      Nice for whom ?

I think he means 3G on new iPhones coming out in '08, not existing ones you and I have today.

I hope they can improve the battery life. 3g sucks up some batteries. Three hours talk time would suck!

CNN and Engadget seem to think otherwise...

So is it going to be an upgrade to our current phones or are we going to have to buy new ones?

3G requires new hardware. You'll have to buy a new phone.

hmm...perhaps if we raise hell enough like the early buyers(including myself) when they dropped the price $200 not more than two months after launch, we can at least get ourselves an tradein/upgrade discount or something and get the new model

but then again...the stance that apple has been taking lately i'm not getting my hopes up lol, if it really comes down to it i'm sticking with my phone now, i'm not forking out another few hundred dollars for faster data transfer

Im pretty sure it will be a while new iphone, I think the insides of the phone are different, like the receivers and antennas and such, on a 3g phone

i do not think that unlocked iPhones will be able to use 3G...cuz T-Mobile only offers EGDE i think and not 3G.....am i wrong?

I don't think this is true as I'm pretty sure the iPhone has been disassembled and confirmed that there is no 3g antenna (hardware) in the v1 iPhone. But please correct me if I'm wrong...

It will be a good improvement over this one; if they're going to enter the 3G market, their weapon will have to stand out. Hopefully it will be the sexiest looking 3G phone ever, with all the features we use and need. I can see it now: the primary camera may be >3MP, a 2nd camera hidden behind the screen, the phone will be just as thin as the first G iPhone (maybe thinner), it will have Bluetooth, and of course...it will have a fresh new challenge to give to the hackers. Can't wait to get my hands on this.

ehhh, edge is plenty fast for me (streaming audio mostly... which runs fine). Any other time I really use it (at home or at work) I have wifi access.

no way am I giving apple any more money... it's a nice phone and all, but Apple has been pi$$ing me off lately
