  • Gameboy Advanced Emulator for iPhone/iPod Touch
For all of you that want to play gameboy advanced games on your iphone, the time has come!! The folks at zodttd.com have released gpSPhone, a gameboy advanced emulator.

This should be available via installer now. If you want to install it manually here is the link

Place gba_bios.bin (GBA BIOS) in /Applications/gpSPhone.app/ do not ask for or share for links for this . . . you will be banned if you do
    Place your roms in /var/root/Media/ROMs/GBA
we will not provide roms here, or link to them, so don't even ask, don't post links to roms . . . . once again warez = banned here.

    Things that still need work:
    - Compatibility is lower than usual but many games are playable. This is being worked on as a high priority.
    - Sound output is disabled, but it IS being emulated. So performance will only get better as this feature gets worked on.
    - Auto frameskip might be off. Switch to manual frameskip if needed.
    - GUI and instructions need a lot of work.

be sure to check out the developers site for updates on the project.

    thanks realisticmind1

Yeh i didnt notice any change on Pokemon.

But i played it for about 10 minutes and i think the emulator gets familiar with the images and processes of the game. And it Ran REALLY smooth, even sound was excellent.

Im really happy with 0.5 its the best update.

Just getting the emulator to process the ROM faster is the next challenge.

And Sound - They can never get that right.

THE IDEA IS COOL, BUT I DONT THINK IT WILL WORK RIGHT....BECAUSE YOUR FINGERS ARE IN THE WAY OF YOUR CHARACTER ON THE SCREEN...I HAVE TO KEEP TAKING MY HAND OFF JUST TO SEE WHERE MY PLAYER IS.....i vote no on this version....id rather have a small screen with controls....im going back to .5

Agreed//great concept but Mario game are impossible to play with your hands in the way.
      Also..same sound issues.
I think if they offered a choice of regular or landscape mode in the settings that would be great.

I like the landscape mode in 1.0.0, the translucent buttons work well, at least for mario kart and rpgs, they dont obstruct the view

A D-pad with a suction cup that you can stick to your screen would make this much more playable

Dude. Read the first damn post are you an idiot? I can understand not knowing what that message means, but you wouldnt get that message if youd read and put the "gba_bios.bin" file in your gpsphone folder under applications.

Next time learn to read the first few posts and not be an idiot

I like v1.0.0 though it takes some getting used to.
I wish the controls could be better implemented... I don't like the transparent shadows. Maybe have the controls fade in when the user touches the screen and make them semi-transparent but with actual images of the buttons. And it would be a great thing if the buttons had a "pushed" image and could actually depress as your finger hits it, so you can actually tell what you're pressing...

Keep up the good work. And add a mute button!!

It would be nice if the landscape view was kind of like the actual gamebody advance, and if we had the portait view too would be nice, while keeping all of the features from previous versions.

      v1.1.0 is out

gpSPhone v1.1.0 brings the following changes:

      - Added a menu button to the controller overlay (between L and R) that closes a game to the ROM list menu.
      - Added customizable overlays/skin functionality. Artists can now create overlays and define button's touch regions.
      - Added option to select an overlay/skin within the settings menu.
      - Added the option to mute the emulator in the settings.
      - Added the option to scale to fullscreen or not in the settings.

      sounds good to me

      Installer now has 1.1.2 available..
      Changes 1.1.2:
      - Slightly increased performance. Much less "hiccups".
      - Sound buffers changed. Games which run well, performance-wise, sound better. Games that run slowly will still have poor sound.

So far this has a LOT of the options we wanted and is VERY well done. The sound is still a little choppy on some more than others but this is by far the BIGGEST improvement I've seen.
