  • Jailbreak 1.1.2 software released Win/OS X
So many are confused about how exactly to jailbreak to 1.1.2

If you are running a 1.1.2 phone you need to get back to 1.1.1. This method is documented countless times on this site and the rest of the web. If is also included in the readme file packaged in the zip file linked below.

Now that you have a 1.1.1 phone you need to get installer working.

    Install OktoPrep via Installer

    upgrade to 1.1.2

Conceited software has released software that will jailbreak 1.1.2, installs installer, and install ssh app. Both windows and mac versions are available and you can get them here:
    http://conceitedsoftware.com/iphone/site/112jb.html

Run the conceited software 1.1.2 jailbreak software, it will take about 10 minutes to complete.

Note: if you did not install OktoPrep before you upgraded to 1.1.2 none of this will work

Well I tried going back to 1.1.1 cant do that either. It hangs on the connect to itunes screen and when I launch indpendence it does nothing (it supposed to kick it out of that mode). So now I am going to have to do a restore and have a 1.1.2 phone with no apps unless a better jailbreak for 1.1.2 comes out. Im sick of jumping through hoops just to get apps on my phone, thinking about going back to my windows mobile phone with all its games until apple gets this all sorted out in february. It was my fault for updating I guess. Just really frustrated right now.

Nevermind my previous post. I tried something and it worked.

For anyone getting the message "Cannot launch iPHUC!" in the windows jailbreaker the soloution is you have to install the files directly to your c drive and not a directory. I know this is going to make a mess in the C folder but it worked for me.
Previouly I installed the files in a folder named Jailbreak and it would not work. After installing the files directly to c instead of a folder everything went smooth and now at 1.1.2 Jailbroken!

so then I tried just clicking on the jailbreak.jar file and I get this message..

I am on a powerbook G4. Someone please help! I want my 3rd party apps back!
I got this same thing but I'm on INTEL based mac.

Yeah man just tried it again and still getting the same message. Well if I go back to 1.1.1 I get no service and the phone never activates, if I go to 1.1.2 I get the ATT logo right away and the phone activates. Man Apple is devious. So now Im on 1.1.2 and cant jailbreak even after installing oktoprpep. Goodbye third party apps. Hopefully someone comes up with a much better jailbreak for this new firmware.

That was easy and i thought you have to downgrade your baseband also. Well i was wrong i downgrade to 1.1.1 useing the the itune downgradeing trick i was stuck on the screen where it shows you to plug into itunes..I just ran AppTappInstall and it kicked me out of that screen..I wont get any singal or anything cause the firmware is at 1.1.1 and baseband is wrong i didnt care..I then turned on my wifi so i can get into safari i put in the jailbreakme website and it worked. So i installed OkToPrep. I updated to 1.1.2 then ran the 1.1.2-jailbreak file and all is good. Now im waiting for SummerBoard to work with 1.1.2.... Oh yeah Thanks guys for your hard work...

Well Customize work but u cant hide icons yet..

As conclusion DON'T TRY IT, i tried it yesterday and results are a locked iphone that can't downgrade or activate :

Now I have version 1.1.2 installed but it is locked, my iphone doesn't work any more, documentation provided with the jailbreak sucks, too many bugs are still there i don't know if this patch has been tested. Starting from the installation (mac uses) after installing OktoPrep you have to run OSX which a bash script that calls java program jailbreak.jar, you need to run from the terminal ./osx
because it doesn't work if you double click, PATH problem since mac uses /users/username as a PATH if double click instead of the real PATH which explain that developer never tested it running a double click.

Then the java program complains that can't communicate with the iphone asking you try rebooting the computer, the problem is due to a missing library /opt/local/lib/libreadline.5.2.dylib there is no /opt on Mac so you should download the right library and put it under /opt/local/lib/

after i got the library i tried to run the ./osx again and another popup appeared complaining that i didn't install OktoPrep which is not true since i already installed it but since i have an unlocked iphone with previous versions the jailbreak for 1.1.2 doesn't work.

That sucks how much will cost developers to add one more line to the README informing us that the stupid jailbreak works only with new iphones that not unlocked yet.

I bought a 16gb iPod about three weeks ago and am returning it for an iPhone. I am assuming that it will come with the 1.1.2 firmware, and I have been looking into a way to downgrade to 1.1.1 with windows.

Every solution on the internet I have seen involves the use of "iNdependence" which seems to be a mac program. Does anyone have any advice regarding downgrading a new iPhone to 1.1.1? The documentation is less than par for the "1.1.2-jailbreak" program, but even it references "iNdependence" so I am really in the dark here.

If you had to downgrade you will get an error after 1.1.1 loads. You can easily bypass part of the instructions if you simply use iBricker. It will allow you to access the phone and us wifi to install App Installer to prepare the phone for the 1.1.2 upgrade. Its extremely simple. Kep in ind the phone will enter the Restore mode if restarted while still on 1.1.1.
