Geohot is no stranger to legal troubles. His latest problems with the law involve Sony suing him for violation of the DMCA, computer fraud and copyright infringement. They have been granted a temporary restraining order which “forbids him from distributing the jailbreak, helping or encouraging others to jailbreak, and distributing information they've learned during the creation of the jailbreak,” according to his Wikipedia page.
The courts have also ordered Geohot to hand over all computers and storage media used in the creation of any jailbreaking software to Sony’s lawyers. I know I would have a hard time handing over all of my computer equipment to a bunch of lawyers. In response to Sony’s allegations Geohot has posted his opinion on the matter on YouTube. Ummm wow, I don't even know how to respond to this lol! It's good to see he's humorous through all this stuff...it's ridiculous what Sony's doing, we all have the right to jailbreak devices that we've paid for. We understand that it voids our warranty but that's a risk we're willing to take to have the device that WE want. Leave us be!
Sony is just pissed because Geohot is superior to every engineer and brain surgeon they have (no offense, Sherif). These corporate scumbags with their inferior security measures should either be hiring Geo or thanking him for keeping them on their "game". They OBVIOUSLY can't compete. Sounds like Sony needs to get off the cotton Pony and let Geo be. Awesome rap Geo, you are a GOD, screw them ambulance-chasing leeches!
