  • AT&T Giving Away 1000 Free Minutes to Some iPhone Customers

In yet another obvious effort to retain iPhone customers - those who now have more than one carrier option - AT&T is giving away 1000 free rollover minutes to some iPhone subscribers today (and through next month it seems). While it isn't yet known how many AT&T customers have already received a text from AT&T explaining the promotion, there's another way to see if you can claim your free minutes.

As instructed, yours truly texted the word 'yes' to 11113020. The result? I received my free 1000 minutes (see screenie above for proof). If you don't want to text AT&T to claim your chunk of minutes, there's a good chance you may still hear from AT&T today or in the coming days. If so, here's the message you can expect:

AT&T Free Msg: You’re a valued AT&T customer. We’d like to add 1000 bonus Rollover minutes to mobile number ending in xxxx. There’s NO cost or obligation to you. It’s our way of saying thank you. To have your minutes added, reply YES by 3/31/2011. Reply stop to end mktg msgs.

Yesterday, the Verizon iPhone debuted to the masses. Feeling the heat, AT&T is ramping up its promotional efforts. Before today's fee minutes bonanza, earlier this month AT&T offered a 25% discount on one accessory purchase and even a free MicroCell to select iPhone customers.

I have unlimited minutes and unlimited data, so this doesn't help me. I hope they come up with a promotion that does.

I'm maxed out on rollover but this is good to know. I wish AT&T valued their customers before they started losing them.

dude, i don't know. I just called at&t to verify, and the lady told me there were no current offers for this and it was spam. Said most likely a $9.99 charge would show up for texting that number. Have no idea, but fishy.

I would hope an MMi writer would verify this with at&t before posting.

Its not spam. And just because some rep from AT&T doesn't know about this promotion means its not valid?

This is completely useless. If you use the phone enough to need them, you won't have rollover minutes anyway and will upgrade your plan to save money. If you don't need them then you aren't using the minutes you have anyway and this doesn't matter. AT&T really is the dumbest ******* company on earth. This is completely useless and stupid. How about those morons do something that would gain them customers like, oh I don't know, make texts completely unlimited and free?? It costs them literally zero dollars to support because it's built into the GSM standard itself. What a bunch of dumbasses.

It's gonna be funny when people start seeing charges to their account on their next bill.
