  • AT&T Giving Away 1000 Free Minutes to Some iPhone Customers


    In yet another obvious effort to retain iPhone customers - those who now have more than one carrier option - AT&T is giving away 1000 free rollover minutes to some iPhone subscribers today (and through next month it seems). While it isn't yet known how many AT&T customers have already received a text from AT&T explaining the promotion, there's another way to see if you can claim your free minutes.

    As instructed, yours truly texted the word 'yes' to 11113020. The result? I received my free 1000 minutes (see screenie above for proof). If you don't want to text AT&T to claim your chunk of minutes, there's a good chance you may still hear from AT&T today or in the coming days. If so, here's the message you can expect:

    AT&T Free Msg: You’re a valued AT&T customer. We’d like to add 1000 bonus Rollover minutes to mobile number ending in xxxx. There’s NO cost or obligation to you. It’s our way of saying thank you. To have your minutes added, reply YES by 3/31/2011. Reply stop to end mktg msgs.

    Yesterday, the Verizon iPhone debuted to the masses. Feeling the heat, AT&T is ramping up its promotional efforts. Before today's fee minutes bonanza, earlier this month AT&T offered a 25% discount on one accessory purchase and even a free MicroCell to select iPhone customers.

      I guess it never occurred to you that sometimes people may exceed their current month's usage. Personally, I have a couple of kids on my plan and although they do a pretty good job of watching their usage, they are kids and sometimes push the envelope a bit. The rollover minutes give me peace of mind that I don't have to check minutes daily or cut conversations short to keep from going over. If I stay under, good for me cause I get to keep what I paid for. All other carriers snatch back any minutes you don't use each month.

      Maybe it's just useless to you because you manage everything perfectly. But we can't all be as cool as you.

      All you did was stop them from sending you further marketing messages via txt. You didn't cancel the promo you accepted.

      Also, the fact that you got THAT message when you replied STOP indicates that it most likely was from AT&T.

      I got my very first spam text about ten mins after sending this (I've had at&t/cingular/bellsouth since the late 90's and have never had a spam text). I did get the thank you message and that it would take about four weeks.

      The message:
      Short on cash? Recieve up to $1500 in your account TODAY! No credit check, no faxing, instant approval. Visit (blah, blah, blah, not posting the link) US Pay Today - When you need to get Paid Today (optout,reply-out)

      I'm on the 450 minute plan...been so for the past 4 years or so...and i have over 3,000 rollover minutes haha...why not add another 1,000.

      Who the hell calls now and days everything is about text text and text... I have about 8,000+ roll over minutes right now that I never use or will use if anything I only use about 50-100min a month now texting on the other hand... That's a little something I do all day every day... Last month I sent 9,213 text messages.... That's all I do is text away with about half my phone book of 189 contacts what I want is a month free of charge... No fee for one month now that would be nice (^,^)

      I sent my message and I received a message back from ATT saying that they ran out of minutes, they had only 16 minutes left, so I got to wait till they make another order. With ATT, anything can happen.

      You know, the thing that worries me is the fact it seems NOBODY has been denied. lol
