  • DiskAid for USB File Transfer Mac + PC 100% Free

Windows users are familiar with iPhoneBrowser, an awesome little program that allows file transfer via USB cable from a Windows computer to iPhone or iPod Touch. Historically OS X users have been without a USB file transfer program and have relied on sftp to access the iPhone's file system via wifi.

    In steps DiskAid.

DiskAid is a nice little client that allows file transfer via USB to the iPhone. Now Mac users can transfer files via USB just like the Windows folks. DiskAid is a quick, 100% free download for either Mac or PC.

Just run DiskAid, plug in the iPhone or iPod Touch and you're good to go! Simply drag and drop to copy files and folders between your computer and your iPhone or Ipod Touch. Couldn't be easier!

You can grab your very own free copy of DiskAid from their site.

I remember reading some stuff in some other forums, that these kind of programs (there was another popular one, did the same through WiFi, can't remember the name though) install a deamon on your phone the first time you connect them. Does anybody know, if that's true?
And if it is, does diskaid do so too?

Whats the link to download it for mac? I can't seem to find it...

If you Google DiskAid I see references dating back to April so what was said above is indeed true... sucks we didn't get a tip from one of our 300,000+ members before now!

this is by far the easiest way to get access to your phone, especially for people unfamiliar with ssh.

You need neither. It will however, to the best of my knowledge, restrict root access.

Wow, yeah this has been around for a bit. I feel bad for not sharing the news over a month ago when I found via a google search... I guess I assumed it was no good and that's why everyone was using WinSCP (for windows anyway).

Haven't tried it yet, but I'm sure it handles larger transfers much faster than wifi.

Now? I have been using DiskAid for some months. I thought everybody knew about it. I guess I was wrong. It's a nice little tool.

You are doing something wrong my friend. You can access root (your iPhone must be jailbroken, of course, but I do think your iPhone is indeed jailbroken) and transferred files are not corrupted

If not jailbroken, no root access

According to the DiskAid website but it seems to not be consistent @ least with my iPhones...

On my winpwn'd 1.1.4, it can access both media and root files. While on a ZiPhoned 1.1.4, I can only access the media files...
