  • Dock: Now for 2.0!

    Dock, one of my favorite application launching programs on the iPhone, has been ported to the 2.0 firmware by Nate Tru. One of the best things about Dock is that is it available in any application. By simply swiping your finger along the bottom of your screen will activate Dock. But now, it's back with an entirely new look.



    Now when you open Dock, you will get 5 different categories: Media, Phone, Uncategorized, Utilities, and Work. Most applications by default are in Uncategorized, but default applications are categorized. You can move around applications in the "Dock Prefs" application.



    One new feature I do love, is the ability to call any of my contacts with the "Speed Dial" switch turned on in Dock Prefs. Speed Dial will show up next to Uncategorized and you can call any of your contacts.



    Overall, really great update, and a welcome addition to my iPhone.

      I too love the idea of this app at least until Big Boss gets a chance to port Categories. However, I too had similar issues that others mentioned.
      I could not add an email account. When I went to type in information the screen for exchnge kept popping up instead. When tried to input anothe field. The mobileme screen came up. Yahoo mail wouldl pop up for yet another field.

      Also for me the main reason for this app is to hide icons and use dock. When Poof hid the icons, it also hid them from Dock.

      I ended up uninstalling Dock and went back to AppFlow for now. Mail account can now be added normally.

      Great idea though.

      I loved the original DOCK.app but I think this one is a little buggy it made a couple of app store apps act a little crazy like crash lander and apache lander. But I just turned it off and it was fine.

      Its faster to just scroll your pages btw.. This would only be good if it worked like categories and hid the app.

      I love the new version in theory, but it's busted. The interface is slow and clumsy, but the worst part is it's not compatible with Poof! With the old Dock, all apps showed up, but now it's only Springboard items. This seriously reduces its usefulness.

      Agree. Great app and hope for an update that will allow us to have the hidden apps show. I'm sure it will come.

      Thanks for the app port though. Look forward to the updates

      old dock was much more user friendly, and yes, I did have like 50 apps, it worked beautifully.

      I have been so waiting for this program to be ported, now I'm filled with dissappointment, its easier to scroll through the original pages.....

      And yes, when you hide an app, it hides from dock too. Major failure!!!!

      Just uninstalled from my phone!!! sux.

      Same thing happened to me. This is how I fixed it:
      *Note: Luckily, I have ssh default to be on when I reboot...

      1)SSH into your phone
      2)Open bossprefs under the applications file
      3)Copy info.plist to your desktop
      4)(Using a Mac) edit the info.plist with dashcode
      5)Delete " hidden "
      6)save and close
      7)copy the edited info.plist file back to your iphone
      8)reboot
      9)bossprefs should now be un-hidden
      10)now you can access poof and unhide other apps from there

      i thougt it was cool and i tried it, cuz i dont like pretty much the tons of icons on my springboard, i was using appflow but sometimes it gets kinda slow and pain in the *** whating for an app to load just to launch another one, i was hoping this was my solution but what i see when i use it.... the app doesnt shoe hidden icons -.- .... just the ones on springboard... and in other hand, on the 2.0 u can tap the status bar and u go to the top of whatever ur whatchong, this works on safari, mail, even 3rd aprty like cydia, etc, whit dock u loose this ability, i guess dock creates a layer on top of the apps or something, anyway, its not over finished like all of us could wan to.

      and finally, it gets boring having the finger all the time on the screen, u get tired of that, this app should b more like stacks, passing the finger all over your screen may ends on getting tired and launching the wrong app.

      Its a cool idea but needs more improvements, thx tho.

      How do i locate the "folders" in SSH? I'm trying to delete the Phone folder ect...

      i find it really useful since my fones home button has become unresponsive becuz of all the use i've given it. Looks really really nice! idk why apple hasnt come up with that feature yet.

      Nice app, kinda slow though and it causes interference with "passcode lock", when trying to setup a passcode, it just keeps poping up the "enter digits" screen and you can not enter number, it changes again to another passcode screen after you select 4 digits but you can not see them or hear them, I had to disable Dock in order to enable passcode lock.
      Hopefully this'll be fixed in a recent update..

      The old DOCK application worked beautifully for me. Never had a problem PLUS it was nice to just be able to roll your thumb up or down to scroll through apps. This application is hard to navigate and theres a lot of movement to get to one thing. Why not simply push the home button and point to the app you need. Its the same thing as scrolling through folders. PLEASE BRING BACK THE OLD STYLE IM BEGGING YOU NATE TRUE FOR THE LOVE OF CHRIST!

      It's laggy and doesn't respond very well to touch movements.

      I installed Dock 2.0 on an Iphone 3G 2.0.2 pwn and my Phone Dialer DON'T WORK !!!
      I can not make calls, see my recent call, etc. The Phone app just don't work anymore.

      How can I fix this ?

      dock is my dope app of all time specially when i installed it back on 1.0.2 for the fist time ever since i kept installing it all firmwares i still got it on my 1.1.4 8gig iphone but since i got ma 16gig black 2.0 i don't have it nomore till yesterday i seen it in instaler i was like what???? say word Dock on 2.0. nate tru is Da man since day one..anyways i installed it works great with more options but i like the old Dock why? cause u see the sunburst at the corner you see it on 2.0 too at the bottom of the Docks cool but like i said i like D old one better more nicer and fast simple...still nate tru i got love for you playboy lol...

      Its always amazing to see people complain about how much FREE apps suck. I thinks its ok to make suggestions but dont hate on something that someone made for our enjoyment for FREE.

      it was coo the first time i downloaded it...not useful tho..
      and when i rebooted again, screen became unresponsive.
      luckily i had "SSH ON REBOOT ALWAYS" in BossPrefs ON, deleted "Dock" with the quickness

      i like it, the only thing i dont like is that when i use poof to hide icons, they are gone from dock as well. This kind of defeats the purpose for me.
