  • iTunes 7.7.1 is Out

iTunes 7.7.1 is available now via Software Update.

Seems like there's no major changes.

Use iTunes 7.7 to sync music, video, and more with iPhone 3G, and download applications from the iTunes Store exclusively designed for iPhone and iPod touch with software version 2.0 or later. Also use the new Remote application for iPhone or iPod touch to control iTunes playback from anywhere in your home a free download from the App Store.

iTunes 7.7.1 includes fixes to improve stability and performance.

lol my buddy used to have a Pearl un till I Upgraded to the 3G. Now he has my 8 Gig first gen. He posted up on there saying he got an iphone and they tried to wreck him so he listed a whole bunch of crap that the iphone does and stated all you got is a pretty blinking ball on your phone, and ****** software.

      Sorry off topic lol

But one more person added to our community

How many other phones can you surf the web just like on any other computer, execute command lines or even just change the wallpaper and icons to whatever you want... I'm not saying it's the only phone that can be unlocked or hacked, but it's the only one that has as many capabilities.... Another person thats never heard of a smartphone and windows mobile.
Windows Mobile has been around for years and can do a LOT more than the iPhone can and will ever do. Windows Mobile can also use whatever internet browser they want, they arnt locked into what Apple say. What is it with Safari? Thats like the worst browser ever. It cant even use flash or java. Pathetic.

Back on topic why is it that Apple give us this update just to stop some people sharing a few files without thier approval? This is another reason why I'm glad i have my iPhone for sale now. I like to be in control of what I do, not controlled my a giant apple.

IF you can read properly I said the iPhone can be the best but as its locked so tight it never will be. Apple have to unlock it then maybe it will be the best but when they do (if they ever do) it will be obsolite by then anyway.
The Devs are helping but they can never unlock it fully. Where is MMS and bluetooth? Thats Apple's doings. What about giving it all the features of normal phones.

uhm, naked dude, SwirlyMMS ring a bell?

the rest of my family uses Windows Mobile, its just whatever type of people use it.

people ask me, for business, what phone should I get? I point them to blackberry, its very tailored to their needs. If you pay attention, the iPhone is only a year old, Blackberry and Windows Mobile have been out for a decade or more.

Im hearing reports that the ipa method does indeed work with 7.7.1. Maybe it breaks all your current apps but allows you to install new ones fine.

pshh, the iphone is a design masterpiece.
I will never be able to go back to a phone with a minuscule, low-resolution screen that I have to hold right up to my face to make out the embarassing "mobile" internet. the iphone is more than just a gimmick, it's innovate controls make everything easier and more fun; the accelerometer for gaming, being able to zoom in, scroll, and save images using your fingers and not a load of small buttons underneath the screen. Besides that, a lot of people love apple, and the user friendly, design conscious, and efficient products they produce. That is more than you can say about Windows, which has been and will continue to remain a second rate operating system despite the amount of cash they are bringing in. Quality counts, and people love apple because apple aims to please. They are new to this whole cell phone game but they are doing a pretty damn good job. My only complaint is the lack of MMS, which makes no sense at all. Anyway, Windows mobile blows so good luck with your next "crappy" phone while the rest of us enjoy the apple revolution.

I would expect more people would have tried this by now....

I will be testing it when I get home, but I am at work now.

Can any moderator confirm if upgrading your iTunes to the latest version will do anything to the iPhone if it's jailbroken, activated, and/or unlocked?

Now I really hope all the complaining and arguments stop because they are so off topic and this should be more based on iTunes with it's compatibility with the iPhone if it's pwned with WinPWN or Pwnage. Anyone got 2 cents to offer us? I need to confirm if an iPhone has successfully worked with the new iTunes and pwned by WinPWN v2.3 ..

jailbroken iPhone 3g, windows xp, works fine. However, when downloading app store apps, it says I need to be signed Into iTunes on my pc before the app can download.

My iPhone 3g is pwned using Winpwn and I have iTunes 7.7.1 installed on WinXP.

I have synced my iPhone numerous times and added songs. iTunes still does it backup of my iPhone. The phone is still jailbroken, Cydia works, and anything installed via Cydia still works, so no problems here for me.

      Few observations on 7.7.1

      - can still use .ipa method apps
      - long backup issue fixed! First backup hour and a half, subsequent backups less than 5 minutes! (used to take 2+ hours EVERY TIME)

I can confirm that cracked .ipa files still sync fine on my system to my iPhone (1st Gen) on iTunes 7.7.1. I'm on Mac OS X 10.5.4.
