  • Pwnage 2.0 Released - 3G/2.0 is Jailbroke!

Pwnage Tool 2.0 is officially released by the Dev Team.

edit: 2.0.1 is released now, with the following changes:

    * It auto-finds the bl39 and bl46 files better, if they’re on your computer
    * It creates the ~/Library/iTunes/Device Support/ folder if not present, which should help with some 1600 errors people have been having.
    * Many people have reported the PwnageTool not starting up at all (the icon never stops bouncing). This issue should be resolved now.
    * The Sparkle AppCast URL is fixed in this version, so automatic updates should work for future releases.

The tool jailbreaks and unlocks any 1st gen iPhones running the 2.0 firmware, and jailbreaks any 3G iPhone/iPod Touch running the 2.0 firmware. It does NOT support older versions of the iPhone/iPod Touch firmware.

This release DOESN'T UNLOCK 3G iPHONES YET, but they say they're working on that.

We will have a full guide tonight (edit: here's the guide), but for now here's the download links:

MMi Members (best performance) | MMi Direct Link | MediaFire

Edit: As stated in previous News posts, Installer is NOT ready for 2.0 yet, but Cydia is included in the Pwnage Tool jailbreak, and is supported with all of ModMyI's packages from Installer, as well as Bigboss, Zodttd, and many if not most of Ste's packages. Its a more solid and well supported package manager than Installer - don't worry, you can still get most of your jailbroken apps once they're converted to 2.0 compatible by their respective devs.

I have a problem. Pwnage tool says my firmware is wrong.
      iPhone1.2_2.0_5A347_Restore.ipsw
It flashes the phone fine in iTunes but Pwnage Tool says "Wrong firmware bundle selected.

Do I have to download a different one or is this the correct one?

Id think CMW will start work asap. It took him roughly around 2 weeks after the original pwnage toll was brought out. All we can do is wait and see.

Okay....a couple hours later...and it's been PWNED. I struggled a bit with this, but I managed to work through it. Hopefully I can help some people out....here's what I did.

#1. Sync to backup all your info in iTunes
#2. Download ONLY the new 2.0 firmware (if you haven't done so already)
#3. Restored and upgraded to 2.0
#4. Ran pwnage tool, created the custom firmware
#4a. I couldn't get Pwnage to get my phone into DFU mode, but it doesn't matter.
      #5. Open iTunes
#6. Plugged phone in and manually put into DFU mode. DFU mode is NOT the same as recovery mode. If you are in recovery mode, your screen will show a pic saying plug into iTunes. If you are in DFU mode, the screen is black....looks like your phone is bricked. You need iTunes open so you know you're in DFU mode. It will tell you that the firmware needs to be restored....blah blah blah.
#7. Option + click restore and select custom firmware that's on the desktop.
#7a. Got error 1600...because the first couple of tries I was in RECOVERY MODE not DFU MODE.
#7b. Pull head out my *** and put in DFU mode.
#8. Got another error, so i went to /library/itunes...and created a folder called "Device Support"
#9. Re-ran Pwnage Tool, recreated firmware.
#10. Option + click restore back in iTunes, selected the new custom firmware
#11. Error 1601...now my phone seems bricked, computer doesn't recognize it's plugged in.....BUT with iTunes still opened, I put back into DFU mode. yes, the screen is black, and the phone looks bricked, but it will go back into DFU mode.
#12. Re-tried option +click restore with custom firmware....then everything went smoothly.

      FYI DFU Mode:
have itunes open, plug phone in. Press and hold home+power button for 10 seconds. Release power button only until iTunes tells you that you need to restore. Screen remains black.

OK. Here's a new one. Everything went fine (Jailbreak iPhone 3G), but once I got my stuff back on it, I noticed I no longer have cell service. I cannot text or make calls. I turned WiFi off and there is no AT&T logo or E or 3G icon. I tried doing it again and the same thing happened. Any ideas on how to get my service back?

Any other ideas to what may be causing the 1600 errors and how to get around them?
From what I understand if you are getting a 1600 error this is due to a problem with the ~/Library/iTunes/Device Support directory. If you have the directory, then delete it and recreate it.

If you get a error 6 this is due to you not being in proper DFU mode.

      Entering DFU Mode:

      Turn iphone off.
Press and hold-down both the Power and Home buttons.
Release the Power button after 10 seconds exactly. The screen goes blank
Release the Home button after 10 seconds exactly. The screen is still blank

Is anyone else having trouble syncing after this? iTunes just shows that its syncing, but it never moves past contacts...

      Im so utterly confused.

My iPhone is running 1.1.4 and I'm on Tmobile.

Do I have to restore to 2.0 on my phone before I run pwnage tool2.0? Is that safe to do if I have a tmo sim in it?
