  • Hello, Firmware 2.0. Nice to JAILBREAK YA.

The iPhone Dev Team, who rumor has it just last night got ahold of the new firmware that ships with the SDK (1.2, which will be released to public as 2.0), has already decrypted the disk image and jailbroken the firmware.

This image shows screenshots of apps running on the 1.2 firmware, which requires a dev certificate to do normally, although none have yet been issued. The jailbreak currently only works with hacked activation, meaning it won't work with AT&T iPhone's yet. However, come on, this is like 2 hours ago it happened, you AT&T folk won't be left in the cold.

Props to the iPhone Dev Team on this one, and thanks to King Chronic for the heads up

    UPDATED: Here's the video.

    Cash UPDATE: removed irrelevant video.

Much Respect for Dev Team, Thank You for making the iPhone a much more usable platform and freeing it of its bonds. I lose respect for Jobs with each passing statement and restriction for the iPhone, you figure that he would learn by now. I guess he hasn't taken a good look at the Android SDK!!!! Now that is Open!!!!!

Nice head start on getting ready for the next release.

      Great Work....
      Best of Luck

I'm sorry, but I could care less until the fw is actually out (leaked or officially to everyone). It is pretty much pointless to report it as news until it is out to the general public. Especially since Apple is going to patch it when the official fw is out and not just a very private beta. Now if someone leaks the fw that would be a different story, but whatever.

Not trying to be the grump.... but, did anybody think that maybe Apple might want to see if someone could jailbreak it first, prior to distributing it?

Please guys, release this firmware for download. I would really like to get it on my phone and be able to connect to my school's 802.1x wireless.

The 2.0 firmware is not included with the SDK.
That is only being released to corporate testers. I'm assuming someone who is part of this testing program provided this file to the Dev Team.

You only get 1.2 in the SDK.

But does the SDK allow you to run the 1.2.0 on an actual handset, or simply in simulator mode?

If it does, and assuming this is something Apple wants developers to do (ie perfectly legal to post here), how do you load it on?

Guys, it's not unlocked. Gizmodo lied. It has been jailbroken, but not unlocked yet. Gizmodo also lied about a few other things too.
