  • Ziphone2.0 OS X gui + Windows gui = Easy jailbreak unlock and activate iphones
Sorry about that, hrm the last version that we released our "testers" lied and never actually tested it

I am happy to introduce the OS X gui for Ziphone!!!!!!! (working)

we don't claim any credit for the inner workings of this, we have just added a OS X gui wrapper to ZiPhone2.0 by Zibri

This jailbreaks any iphone with 1.1.3 firmware. It will unlock and activate 1.1.3 iphones with the 4.6 bootloader (1.1.2 and 1.1.3 OTB iphones). Very easy, one-click solution - couldn't be easier!

This works on Apple OS X (Intel + PPC). This is Leopard only right now, we are working on Tiger compatibility.

    Features:

For 4.6 Bootloader (iPhone's that came with 1.1.2 or 1.1.3 out of the box):
    • Unlocks your iPhone
    • Jailbreaks your iPhone
    • Activates your iPhone
    • Repairs your iPhone
For 3.9 Bootloader (iPhone's that came with 1.1.1 or less out of the box):
    • Jailbreaks your iPhone
    • Activates your iPhone

    Download Me (non-member mirror)

Windows users grab a Windows GUI version here --- nonmember mirror here.

thanks Zibri for this jailbreak unlocking activation solution

It's funny: I did this and it worked great, BUT... When I open up independence or ifuntastic (which I use to install NES ROMs, Lucasarts data files and custom icons), it says my iphone is "Jailed". I've used independence to jailbreak it after this method, but the battery seems to drain a bit faster.

How can I use independence to install the installer.app? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

First, big thanks to all those devoted folks out there who spend so much of their time to help us all free our phones - without you, we would be stuck for sure...

      So here's the deal:
      I have a 1.1.3 OTB 8GB iPhone / using OS 10.4.11 (Tiger) on a 1.25GHz PowerBook G4 w/ 1GB RAM / iTunes 7.6 / moderate computer knowledge, but not good in Terminal

I am looking to free my phone so that I can run fun things like Installer and have my modded ringtones, backgrounds and system sounds back (I had a fab 1.0.2 modded phone until it died recently and I had to replace it). I HAVE AN AT&T CONTRACT AND DO NOT WANT TO USE THE PHONE WITH ANOTHER CARRIER! I want what I used to enjoy on my phone, but I would love to be able to take advantage of all the cool things that have been included in updates since the 1.0.2 version. So, I have been reading for days about all the recently released applets to free your phone and make this happen (ZiPhone seems to be the most trouble free now) and have checked out videos on YouTube, but I am left with so many questions, like...

      1. Can you now jailbreak a OTB 1.1.3 on a Mac without downgrading to 1.1.1 and then upgrading again? Is that the ZiPhone 2.2 app?

      2. The ZiPhone 2.2 download seems to be made for Windows, as it contains several .exe files - can I use it on a Mac with the specs listed above, and is there a GUI interface to make doing this on a Mac easier (I looked but couldn't find one)?

      3. Don't understand about this"bootloader" thing, and how to tell which version you have - what does it do, and what version are you supposed to have when all is said and done?

      4. If you are successful in jailbreaking the phone to allow the use of lots of fun modding applets, can you still take advantage of the features that version 1.1.3 offers (multiple page home screens and icon shortcuts on the home screen, for instance)?

I probably have other questions, but really I would love some kind of step-by-step something (tutorial or video) to get me through this...And any enlightenment on my questions above would be awesome.........

Thanks to you all for reading such a long post, and I impatiently await your guidance!!

      1) Yes you can jailbreak a OTB 1.1.3 on a MAC ( running Leopard ) without downgrading to a former version. Someone correct me if i am wrong, but i don't believe you can downgrade a OTB 1.1.3 - baseband is different?
Yes the Ziphone 2.0 - "This works on Apple OS X (Intel + PPC). This is Leopard only right now, we are working on Tiger compatibility."

      2) You will find this wiki to be most helpful Unlock_Activate_Jailbreak_113_iPhone
I would have to check, but i am pretty sure this is the shortest wiki ever written lol
*Note- you will only need to used step 1 since you are an AT&T customer, but insure you read through it first.

      3) "A bootloader is a program written to load a more complex kernel" pulled from http://www.osdev.org/wiki/Bootloader
read through it to get a general understanding at your leisure.

      4) simply put - yes all the features plus modding till your fingers fall off.

I installed the SMB Themes Fix 1.1.3 but not all the themes work. Actually, I can't find it in the Uninstall or Install sections anymore so I'm assuming it's already installed.

I downloaded the correct version of Customize, but none of the theme sets I've downloaded for Customize show up in the menus on the phone.

is that just the way it's going to be? do i have to try uninstalling and reinstalling the summerboard themes that don't show up under the themes menu in the phone?

I just want to be able to use the apps and such. What do i need to check to make this happen? I downloaded the ZiPhone from modmyi.com and i have the 3 options, Jailbreak, Activate and unlock/repair. Which ones do i need to check. Can someone send me a really simple step by step guide via message? I am original att user. TY!!
      A little background:
I bought my iPhone on the first day they went on sale and had jailbroken at 1.1.2, but in trying to jailbreak to 1.1.3 my iPhone would not let me go into DFU mode, so all I could do is update to 1.1.3. I missed my 3rd party app's. I never unlocked because I am on the ATT plan.

I used this method on a mac and all I did was check the jailbreak box, because I am not looking to unlock and I am all ready activated on ATT. Worked great in less than 2 minutes it was done. I had no issues that have been discussed and did not have issues loosing bookmarks, contacts, etc. I have spent last two days finding the 3rd party app's I had installed and have almost all reloaded. Still no problems.

Hope this helps. Sounds like you and I were in the same boat before this jailbreak.

The "other" space is phantom. It doesn't exist. I believe it is /System being reported as other via a symlink. In other words, iTunes 7.6 is misreporting the amount of free space. If you examine this in iTunes < 7.5 you'll notice the "other" space disappears.

OK. BTW, word of advice (to all noobs). Unless you want to get lots of extra spam per day, never post your real email address in a forum. There are spam bots that scan for these things. This site has the ability to send/receive private messages. Use that instead. I would suggest editing out your email address from the post or obfuscating it as user_at_gmail_dot_com

Summerboard themes are being downloaded to the root directory instead of the mobile directory. If you can make a symbolic link instead of themes folder suing winSCP, that will fix it. Otherwise, a quick fix would be to just manually transfer your themes from root to mobile (keeping the directory structure the same).

As for Customize....uninstall the one you have and add this source to your installer queue: touchrepo.com/repo.xml They have a version of customize that works with 1.1.3 (just without reordering and adding icons to the dock).

      Good luck.

It's interesting that no one seems to notice that this isn't a true jailbreak like with independence (If you jailbreak with ZiPhone, then plug in your iphone and try to get into your phone using independence, you cannot: independence says your phone is jailed).

      Any thoughts?

I have 1.1.3 and I was curious once I jailbreak it will it remain 1.1.3 or does it downgrade? B/c I want to be able to keep some of my 1.1.3 features such as multiple sms sending!

      Thanks!
