  • Magnetometer features for the next iPhone revealed in the 3.0 Beta5?
There have been quite a few rumors about some in-built compass features for the upcoming iPhone, which though haven't been much of a hype before but seems to be making its way to the next gen iPhone, secretly.

Some "Apple Ninjas" seem to have unveiled it a few months before the official announcement of the new phone. They claim to have discovered these hidden preference panes in the latest 3.0 beta with the help of some debug menu tweaks. These compass features will be particularly helpful in geotagging and obviously finding out directions. This might have the same functionality as the G1 but I don't think Apple would "copy" anything from others.

Kitchen Sink? Fantastic, I've always wanted to wash dishes with my phone.

Apple doesn't seem like the company to use the term daemon in their GUI looks fake

hmmm a compass feature would be nice but would totally eliminate the need for the compass apps that are in the app store not sure apple would want to lose out on the revenue they make from those apps

if you look at the top the carrier name looks to long to say AT&T and that part of the screen is porpously cut out i dont think any one from apple would release a screen shot when its on another carrier

just my opinion but i may be so completely wrong

      Fake!

      Edit
Actually it may not be fake as it as a beta firmware and for devs only so Apple might alter the "daemon" wording to something else.

I don't think it was released by a apple person. I'm pretty sure it was an alien.

I think it's fake. A magnetometer seems a bit much. Can't imagine Apple wanting to build a "Swiss Army" iPhone. Also, the other poster is correct, Apple never uses the term "daemon". Anyway, can have the same function with GPS (although you have to be non stationary in order to determine direction)

And that's exactly why there is a folder in /System/Library/ called "LaunchDaemons?"
