  • AppStore Soon To Be 3.0 Ready!
Apple just changed a major policy of the AppStore submission process! As per the change, they are now approving apps on 3.0 compatibility basis instead of 2.x.x.

This a great effort by Apple as soon the 3.0 will be released and this will help developers to be ready beforehand. On the other hand, it is a big blow to those devs who haven't purchased the $99 developers program yet as they might be offering free apps only.

That being the case, if you are in process of submitting an app to the store, wait for a moment and check if it works with the upcoming version of the OS.

P.S. Apple will be removing any incompatible apps currently selling on the store. Therefore, to avoid any loss of sales, update your app now!

This is good for someone like me who is already running 3.0 beta and a few apps either do not work at all, or work, but not fully.

$99 fee for testing on phone. SDK is free. Most of the apps use accelerometer etc...

This is fantastic news. The one fear I had of 3.0 was a bunch of lazy devs not bothering to update their apps until AFTER 3.0 was released.

well glad that Apple at least notified the devs to check their apps that way they dont lose money by having their app removed, cant wait for 3.0 jailbreak to be released by the Dev team.

This is how it should be. Move up or move out. Once I can get a firmware for 3.0 made with Pwnage I am going to update.

Standard procedure for a major OS upgrade. Can't be compatible with earlier SDK's forever... It's either that or tie apps to a particular version(s) of the OS which will cause consumer chaos. I remember a time when you had to know what version of software went with what version of the computer it was running on... but I digress. This is welcome news. Maybe this will filter out a lot of dead apps.
