  • Push Available for Testing - All Devs

Apple today sent out an email to all registered iPhone devs letting them know the Push Notification service is live for testing now. Up until now, only a few select developers had access to push - now the floodgates are open for anyone to test live.

    Here comes push, people.

I don't know if many of you realize this or not.. but the Admins and Mods on this forum are REAL PEOPLE with REAL LIVES to live. We don't spend 24 hours a freaking day trolling the internet for news to post up withing seconds of it's initial release. The fact is that MMi is among the best and most comprehensive Apple forums in the world and we try our best. For those of you who claim we are late, look yourself in the mirror because I'm sure you didn't jump to write up an ORIGINAL review for us to move to the News section of this forum.

There's nothing to get, its built in to the new OS.

Are you saying that my Beta 2 will just start using push now?

What he's saying is that it is now built in to the OS for developers to start developing apps that use it.
As you have FW 3.0 already I assume you are a developer so can now start developing Push apps for the rest of us

      1. Didn't 3.0 enable push already?
      2. Since this is testable by more people does that mean 2.2 is supporting it or do you have to test on 3.0?
3.0 is on;y supporting it right now. Yes it's available in 3.0 but the service itself (apple's side) was disabled until now.

How much money are the owners of this site making for the site alone making though? I imagine a lot. That being said, I am not at all displeased with the news, just a thought. People are always going to ask for more. You can either deal with it or make posts like this one, which isn't going to stop people who complain in the first place. I don't think anybody REALLY thinks that the mods have nothing to do all day but moderate forums, do you?

That's why I don't complain instead I just submit tips when I see them on other forums.

I was questioning why he didn't just buy a MAC.
Mini's are expensive, I bought a MAC for less than 50 of eBay.
It's only a G4 and wasn't quite up to spec for Leopard but found a way round that.

I don't have money right now (poor college student :P) and all I have is my desktop. I would partition my hard drive and put Hackintosh on it, but I don't have a lot of free time...I suppose that might be a better solution for now?

If you are so poor how come you are using Windows 7? When the beta runs out it's going to cost you more than that to get a legal version.

I don't mean I can't afford anything, just that I have other important bills to pay and I don't want to spend over $1000 on a Mac.

Like I say, mine cost less than 50 - can't you afford that?

You need an Intel Mac to run the SDK, so your 50 Mac is essentially worthless to him as it doesn't fulfill the very basic needs he desires from one ;*

Goes to show how much I know about MACs - lucky I only spent 50 squid on mine then, isn't it
