  • iPhone 3.0 Beta 2 Seeded. Now With Push!

Only a two weeks or so after iPhone 3.0 beta 1 was released Apple has seeded iPhone 3.0 beta 2 to developers registered in the iPhone Developer Program. This beta is very similar to the last one with one major addition: push! The feature that Apple promised AGES ago has finally been implemented with iPhone 3.0 beta 2 allowing developers to use the APIs to begin developing push applications. As expected this beta also has been updated for better stability and performance.

    thx for the tip Alastair

For people asking about how to install this on your iPhone refer to this thread:http://www.modmyi.com/forums/iphone-...ing-spots.html

But can I actually restore my current iPhone profile with the new beta and still have youtube work? I mean, yeah, contacts are nice, but I want the whole shebang restored, text messages, camera roll, ringtone settings, etc.

Also, I'm not on anybody's dev list yet. I've got $1.35 in my paypal account. Who wants to help a brother out?

Yes, was working fine in 3.0b1, but now getting "Cannot connect to YouTube" error w/3.0b2... As stated, I had to setup as a new phone, couldn't even backup from my 3.0b1 info

No calls to AT&T... I used this method (http://www.modmyi.com/forums/t/51047...ml#post3455321) about a month ago when I was trying to get SwirlyMMS to work. It was working great with Swirly until I upgraded to 3.0b1, then I was only able to recieve MMS (with Messaging App, of course). Once I upgraded to 3.0b2, I was then able to send and recieve MMS and still am. I can also confirm that video works great, I had my bro-in-law send me a video from his Samsung phone earlier.

I have found that the Maps.app is often quite a bit off when triangulating... like by a few HUNDRED miles. Not sure what that's about, but otherwise, I'm loving this beta 2!

Have they added a decent battery low notification in 3.0? It's really annoying when I'm talking on the phone and it just dies out of nowhere.

is it just me, but does anyone have visual voicemail working?

Visual voicemail works fine for me... Have you tried updating your carrier (ipcc) file with a modified one to enable tethering? If so, it may have disabled MMS in the carrier configuration.

      question...
oddly enough i went thru 7 pages and didnt find this question being asked...

I am a developer ADD ON, can I simply hook up my iPhone to iTunes and download the beta 2? If not what should I do? I REALLY think this is what I have been looking for because my phone is so buggy with Beta 1! Thanks for the help!!

The original dev who made you a tester should be able to distribute the firmware to you.

I am selling spots on my Dev account for $100
The first person who wants one might have to wait a while until I set up my account .....

      Yeap! I do.
All you have to do is fresh reinstall, and set up at a NEW IPHONE (do not backup).
      Good day, mate!

Can anyone help? I just upgraded to 3.0 and upgraded carrier settings to 5.0 and my MMS will not work. It fails to send the message.

Apparently, AT&T will not turn on MMS even for developers, I tried.

Any suggestions how to get this to work before the official version comes out if you are using AT&T?

There's no work-around for mms at the moment, AT&T has NOT enabled mms on the iPhone, and while you may be able to convince an AT&T rep to enable it (most unlikely), periodic sweeps of at&t's network would disable mms again anyway...

Check this out, my phone is locked with a code, but you can still use the phone without unlocking it. Notice the lock at the top.

This is on Beta 2. It can be replicated. The home button doesn't work when you do this tho. so you cant exit an app once you open it.

      have fun :P

My mms works, edit your carrier settings with the gateways and you are all set. check out the 3rd image. as for the sweeps, i dont know what drugs you do, but i want some.
