  • Apple and Adobe Not Working Together for Flash

AS expected and falling right in line with the Adobe and iPhone flash over-hype schedule we have more news concerning iPhone flash from Adobe!

On Tuesday an Adobe spokeswomen first refused to comment when asked for confirmation whether or not Apple and Adobe are really working together to bring flash to the iPhone. The question was prompted by Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen saying that "It’s a hard technical challenge, and that’s part of the reason Apple and Adobe are collaborating," a couple weeks ago which implied that Apple and Adobe were working together to make the flash happen.

The Adobe spokeswoman did give out a few statements that imply the exact opposite of Adobe CEO Narayen's statements. She said "We think Flash availability on the iPhone benefits the millions of joint Apple and Adobe customers, and we want to work with Apple to bring these capabilities to the device," which of course basically says Apple is not working with Adobe. We want = we would like to = we are hoping sometime in the future we will be. If they were working together wouldn't the Adobe representative said something more along the lines of "we are working with apple?"

Result: Adobe an Apple are not working together to bring flash to the iPhone. We already assumed as much. This should be no surprise.

I think they are saving flash for the new iphone since it will have more powerful processor and is most likely to have an upgraded ram for running more than one application, remember that apple is not going to go half *** on this and developing a really strong foundation for flash on the new iphone will probably address the issue instead of making a flash (but not really) solution. He is probably not commenting because apple is so frekin sneaky with it's releases

that's what I was thinking. Cause in my opinion I don't think apple or adobe would release something as useful as flash until AFTER this new iPhone comes out kind or at least at the same time. Kinda like the AppStore release then they gave us all the option to upgrade our 2Gs after of course we already bought our 3Gs. I dunno it makes more sense if you look at it like that especially since it's already feburary a few more months til the new one is likely to come out.

I don;t like the title of this post... it is misleading. Sure we can probably safely assume they are not working together, but that is not what was said. and therefore going out and saying that it was said is misleading. Plus posts on this or getting repetitive and stupid. The only REAL news would be something like a demo video of flash actually working on the phone. Aside from that there is no need to keep cluttering the news posts with such nonsense.

Perhaps we can develop an open source iphone app that would be capable of manipulating Flash? I vaguely remember a homebrew flash program made for the PSP. Why not the iphone?
Wish I could code, I'd know how hard/stupid what I've just said is.

Do you know anything about the internet? Or people? Technology? Anything? Do you regularly use the internet?

How can you hate flash? Without flash the internet would be horribly boring. The only down sides are the ads. That's pretty much it.

The reason we want flash is FOR the resource hogging videos and games, DUH! Like people already said, not all videos are available on youtube. If we had flash we would actually be able to benefit from google's video search.

The only thing that I can see being a problem once flash is on the iPhone is how it is going to be compatible with certain games. I don't really see how one could play certain flash games with the iPhone unless they implemented some amazing coding, or maybe just a see-through keyboard would help most, but who knows.

I'm confused, why are you asking him about his sexual orientation? What does it have to do with anything? Or are you somehow associating homosexuality with ignorance?

All i can say about the we want and the we are can be taken many diff ways. I mean c'mon. Just because they said we want to bring it to the iphone, isn't saying "we want to bring it to the iphone but apple isn't helping us so we aren't sure" It could mean we (apple and adobe) are trying to bring it to the iphone. I mean unless apple is working on something to allow us to access the full web and see what we wan't i don't think they wouldn't help adobe out.
