  • iOS 4.3 Beta 3 Released To Developers

Right on schedule, Apple has release iOS 4.3 Beta 3 to Developers, as per its usual two week timeline.

The release is dubbed as Build 8F5166b, and is available for the iPad, iPhone 4 and 3GS, and 3rd/4th gen iPod touch, and of course a separate version for the Apple TV 2.

So what exactly are we looking forward to here? Well for one, the personal Wi-Fi hotspot functionality is a hot topic, as well as the AirPlay support for video and music streaming. It is also rumored that there will finally be the ability to change how the toggle switch acts on the iPad.

App Advice has stated that iOS 4.3 betas have actually added the ability to cancel downloading apps and even delete them even if it's in the middle of downloading. If that app you want is way too large to download over 3G, simply cancel it and take care of it later on WiFi. This feature is actually included in Beta 1 and 2 as well.

I hope the hotspot feature on the new FW will incorporate WPA security and Infrastructure networking, so that Intelliborn can steal that for MyWi xD

I wonder... If I already have a tweak for unlocking tethering... Will it enable the hotspot feature on it's own? Will be interesting to watch.

I decided against MyWi, because it's not a feature I would use very much.

I'll stick with my 4.1 as I do not see any additional "must have" functionality added in 4.2.1 or 4.3. The WIFI hotspot will be like the integrated tethering.. you can't access it unless you pay the monthly fee so I'll stick with MYWI all day long.

They used to have the download cancel feature until 4.1
      Glad they're bringing it back

Yup looks like I'll stick with 4.1 for awhile.

Is it just me, or does it seem like cool stuff is on cydia, then in a "big" apple update they add cool JB features?

What about Multitasking Gestures? They were present in beta 1 and then removed in beta 2, so are they back in beta3?

      I completely agree with this....

Steve Jobs: Oh so the Jailbreakers did **this** huh?
Next FW update rolls out with **this** incorporated.
      Backgrounding?
      Categories (Folders)?
Tethering? (Ok, technically it was there, AT&T blah blah... w/e)
      Strictly Apples ideas. Duh

The only thing is, what will steve-o do when he/apple finally finds a way to keep us out of our own phones? No more basically free software idea development there Stevie.

how about not jumping out of the app store when a app download begins? there are time when some desire to grab more than one app or keep searching. Just saying... During the month that i had my nexus one, i thoguht that was a rather simple yet beneficial function of the market place app store .

Think I'll stay at 4.1 until apple pulls it's head out of it's *** and adds the ability to both create and use my own system tones (email and text), and allows me to type a three letter reply (yes) to a text without having to switch apps. That and gets completely rid of the asinine and completely infuriating notifications. Until then, I'm staying where I'm at unless a verbose untethered boot comes for 4.3!
