  • Clearer Calls for the iPhone with QB-EM Shielding?

Anyone who has owned or used an iPhone near electronic devices, such as car radios, computer speakers, or various audio receivers has probably experienced some degree of interference or static between the iPhone and the other electronics.

The company, QuickBridge Solutions (QB), has promised to solve this annoying problem with the release of its newest product, the QB-EM shield. What is more, is that this shield only costs a meager $3.99.

The QB-EM shield functions by blocking the electromagnetic impulses coming from the iPhone. The issue of interference is most problematic with first generation iPhones and the iPhone 3Gs that reverted back to the EDGE networking instead of the 3G networking.

QuickBridge says that the root cause of the interference problem are the electronic devices that do not meet the FCC’s standards or do not have the proper EMI and RFI shielding. QuickBridge also boasts claims that 80% to 90% of all interference will be blocked.

The QB-EM shield itself is pretty nifty. It is shaped just like as business card, and all an iPhone owner has to do is put the QB-EM shield at the back of the iPhone case or docking station near the bottom. The shield has to cover the black stripe on the lower back section of the iPhone. Also, QuickBridge manufactures the QB-EM shield in three different designs; Leopard Skin, Lightening Bolt, and Space Cloud.

I have to admit though…I am somewhat unsure. This issue of interference is by no means new. It has been around since the 1990s when all the GSM phones first started coming out. I am just curious why no one has thought of this sooner. And for only four bucks, it sure is promising a lot.

Aluminum foil will stop the interferance also....if you have a soft or hard case for your phone, cut a piece of aluminum foil the size of a business card and put it between the case and the phone....stops the irritating noise with no signal loss!

yes it does. But the whole point of this to have ability to receive a call while listening to a music. Otherwise we would bout iPod, not iPhone.

I just bought two of this, let's see what happens.

No a bad price but..... I have used similiar products before... Lets see what was the name of it....hommm Oh yea it was renoylds wrap aluminum foil. My old Nokia and Mot were also "radio buzzers". One of my collegues in a PMEL lab that deals with EMI EMR told me that one of their machines that needs to be "shielded" from emr waves uses aliminum. So... I cut some aluminum foil and tried it. No issues after that. I also did this with my iPhone. I cut some foil put it inside my Incase taped it down with 3" clear tape and whala no buzz.

Hope this helps... Also if you shield your iPhone you can use the "made for iPod" radios without buzzz...

      Hi ,

How are you? I am a new IPod Touch 2nd generation user, and I'm looking for a website that showcases famous lectures given from around the world. Is there such a podcast available?

      Thanks,
      Raj

Well, I understand but I don't mind pulling it out of phone mode for the hour every morning I listen to music over my FM transmitter! That would be my only interference problem; however I understand how other people can experience it a lot more.

I always drive in my car attached to my tape player unit to have the sound come out my speakers and get that annoying interference noise. I was going to buy this thing then tried the Aluminum foil and i just tested out and it works wonders. It actually was a clear call with the foil and not to mention no noise.

GO ALUMINUM FOIL, STUPID APPLE couldnt spend the extra 20 cents

So is this mainly for the new iphone 3g cause isnt the back of the 2g made of aluminum already??? or is this for the antenna area at the bottom?? I dont really have any noise problems but i just got my new 3g and im about to put it in a case so I might as well do this while im at it.

i got mine a few weeks ago but forgot to post about it on here. it seems to work okay when i'm by my computer speakers... but it doesn't work at all in my car (which is what i bought it for). i dock my iphone in my car onto my fm transmitter, slide the card right behind the phone, and i still get the occasional interference when my music is playing.

very unfortunate. i was hoping this would keep me from having to use airplane mode while traveling.

You don't have a tape deck in your car? I've never had a bit of interference using the tape deck

I got this 3 weeks ago and it works perfectly. I taped it to the back of my phone, and then put the iPhone cover over it and no more annoying noises. The speaker noise was driving me crazy before!
