  • WinPwn 2.0 Released

cmw has released WinPwn 2.0 - you can now jailbreak your 2.0 iPhone/iPod Touch/iPhone 3G in Windows easily.

The WinPwn site is up and down with the intense traffic, but here's the post, in case you can't get it to load...

    WinPwn 2.0

    - Support for both 1.1.4 and 2.0

    - Custom Image Support

    - Custom Payload Support

    - 3g iPhone support

    2.0 How to:

    - 1) First create a custom IPSW using the IPSW Builder.

    - 2) Click "Ipwner" and browse for the custom IPSW that you just created. This will pwn itunes and allow you to flash
Custom IPSW files via DFU mode

    - 3) Once you have pwned Itunes, put your phone into DFU mode. If you don't know how to do this click
    Here.

    - 4) Once you are in DFU mode Itunes will pop up and then you can hold shift and click restore and browse to your custom IPSW file.

    Done!
    Important Notes
Remove Winpwn 1.0 completely if you have it installed. Installing over the top of WinPwn 1.0 will cause problems.
Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes ( Currently 7.7)
If you already have service with AT&T do not activate or install Youtube Fix

Thanks again for all those who supported me. WinPwn was made possible by PlanetBeing, Squpix and the dev team ( Especially Wizdaz, MuscleNerd, Gray, Pumpkin, bgm, roxfan ). I will be updating WinPwn with some better features and upgrading the credits and help sections over the next few days.

    Much love
    cmw
Here's a ModMyI.com mirror for ya of the file (here's a non-member one), or you can grab it from RapidShare.

Thanks to the dozens that sent this in.

Also, cmw says there seems to be issue with Cydia on some XP machines, and he will be releasing a fix tomorrow.

Edit Poseidon: Here is a nice guide written by theiphoneproject. I'm sure we'll have one up soon...

    WinPwn 2.0 Guide

The new release 2.0.0.3 is out which should fix the Cydia/XP bug along with some others listed

Here's some more useful info on firmware files:

there is one firmware for the 3g (which winpwn recognizes and doesnt allow unlock) and there is one for the 1st gen which winpwn will recognize and allow unlock. you should put this in the post so people can download the correct firmware.

    here is link to both.

If you are an at&t customer, then you do not need to check Activation. Not sure if you are, but this is a common mistake.

bijju so what boxes did you check off exactly? And how do you get it to restore mode rather then dfu? And if itunes crashed when trying to ip it through winp. How did you get the file? Build it, save it, and restore with out ip. It?

The new release of winpwn worked like a charm. Here's what I did for those who are as clueless about this process as I am (why can't it be as easy as iLiberty?). Just to be clear, I am using a version 1 iPhone with the official 2.0 firmware. I am running Windows XP Service Pack 2. I also did not have a SIM card in my phone.

      1. I uninstalled all remnants of iTunes (iTunes, Quicktime, Apple Mobile Device Support, Apple Software Update) and all previous versions of winpwn.

      2. Restart the computer and install iTunes 7.7 and the newest version of winpwn. Make sure that iTunes is open as you run winpwn.

      3. Go into winpwn and select "Browse .ipsw". I used the file labeled "iPhone1,1_2.0_5A347_Restore.ipsw".

      4. I then selected IPSW Builder. Since I did not have iPhone plan, I selected both Cydia and the YouTube fix. I left custom images and custom payload alone. Under "Advanced," I selected everything - activate phone, no wipe, enable baseband update, neuter bootloader 3.9/4.6 - downgrade to 3.9, unlock baseband and autodelete bootneuter.app. I also loaded the bootloader 3.9 and 4.6 files that people have linked to previously.

      5. I then selected "Build .ipsw". This takes several minutes. When the process is complete, I go back to the main page of winpwn and select "iPwner." This will "pwn" iTunes so that you can upload the custom ipsw that you just built. iTunes will shut down.

      6. Enter DFU mode on your iPhone. As some people have pointed out, turn off the phone, and then press both the home button and the power/sleep button together for 10 seconds. After 10 seconds, let go of the power/sleep button but continue pressing down on the home button. After another 5-10 seconds, your computer will make a series of beeps, and you should get some notice on the taskbar that your phone is in restore (DFU) mode (or something to that nature). At this point, iTunes will start up.

      7. In iTunes, hold down the "shift" button while selecting the "restore" button. It will now enable you to choose the file that you want to restore from. Select the custom .ipsw that you just created in steps 3-5. In my case, my screen went from blank (black) to white. It then took a few minutes for iTunes to restore the phone using the custom .ipsw.

Just a note: last night, I spent 4-6 hours trying to unlock the phone using yesterday's release of winpwn and was unsuccessful even though I followed the instructions fully. I have only used iLiberty in the past to unlock my phone (with the 1.1.4 firmware) so I was wholly unfamiliar with winpwn. Be patient with this release. It took some time to get it to work, but I am so happy to have my phone back!

That's the thing... Something backed up before the Winpwn tool was run. I watched iTunes say it was backing up iPhone before the Pwn restore. I'm just looking to find a way to restore the contacts, or at least confirm that what was on the SIM has not been erased. I tried the "Import SIM Contacts" from the iPhone's Settings, but that seems to do nothing.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated! BTW... I selected the No Wipe option.... contacts still gone!

The only thing i dont get is, does this require to pwn ur itunes and your phone? And when i pwn my itunes, should my phone be plugged in, or plugged out? Also when I do pwn my itunes, do i then pwn my phone at its current version 1.1.4? and after all that has been pwned, then do i finally restore my phone with custom firmware? Answer to all my questions would be appreciated lol cause a little bit confused since the previous windows way was just pwn ur 1.1.4 iphone using winpwn, and then restore with custom firmware, but this is saying to pwn ur itunes :S?

Finally figured out a problem, if you are on windows XP and can not open winpwn upgrade your .net frame work from microsoft.

Also Since I have a plan on AT&T for the iphone 3G already all i need is cydia correct?

Also I will be doing my friends phone tomorow he has an 8Gig 1st gen I guess you can say with new 2.0 software. What do I need to do so he can use the phone. He is an AT&T subscriber but not for the iphone. What should I include on his Iphone to get him working?

Ok here is how to freakin fix MOST of your issues. Restore your iphone!!!!! Let apple download the firmware. Go into your cdocuments and settings\"Your user"\application data\itunes\iphone software updates and copy the firmware apple downloaded to your desktop. FOR SOME FREAKIN REASON THE FIRMWARE THESE GUYS LINK TO WILL NOT WORK FOR ME NO MATTER HOW HARD I TRY. Now use this firmware and create your custom PWN file. WAHLAH!!!! This worked for me and it will most likely work for you!!!!!!!!!!!! OH THIS IS FOR XP. Vista users should find it in the same place except for its under the cusers directory and not the documents directory!!!

I can't get At&t to work on my jailbroken iphone 3G. Is there something i need to do to enable a service provider on it? All i did was jailbreak it and restore my settings, which i though would do it.

      VISTA!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok so my wife rolled hers back to 1.1.4 like mine, pwned it with 2.0.0.2 winpwn on 1.1.4 at the time mine was working unlocked active through using winpwn 2.0.0.2. Hers goes through the motions and gets the "your iPhone has been pwnd"...however...it is not activated...she gets frustrated and does a shift restore in itunes to the previously mentioned downloaded Custom 2.0 firmware. Works like a dream!!!!
That is 2 successful pwns using Vista in 15 minutes! working on #3
