  • Receive MMS on the iPhone

SwirlySpace, the guys who brought us the MMS app back in December, have updated to version 0.3, which now lets you receive MMS!

This is "very rough" according to them, but a new version will be released soon after which will be much more polished. The good news is - it works. MMS receiving on the iPhone! It should appear on Installer within 24 hours.

    http://blog.swirlyspace.com/

You can add this from Swirly's source until Ste gets it up - swirlyspace.com/SwirlySpace.xml and add version 0.3.2.

A list of carrier settings can be found here.

T-Mobile USA's settings are (thanks, insomniaparatus):

    T-Mobile (USA)
    MMSC: 216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
    Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080
    MMS-APN: wap.voicestream.com

I'm on AT&T with the PPU plan. I can send messages to Sprint & T-mobile but cannot receive. I have tried putting in the mmsc and proxy settings and leaving the rest blank... and I have tried to fill in all the fields per post 340 by Sparblaze. Any ideas?

I use AT&T. I have the unlimited $20 data plan. I'm on a family plan with 4 phones total. We have the unlimited text message plan thats $20 i think also. The MMS works for me. Didn't have to call them for the .25 cents per msg plan.

Could this be because i have the unlimited txt plan?

I'm not complaining, everything works, but i see everyone else is having a hard time getting it to work.

Did you capatilize the things that were capatilized? It is caps sensitive.

I'm about ready to give up. Two days calling and stopping in at stores and it just won't work. First I had the ppu plan added, didn't work. Then I had a different store verify that mms was on there, still didn't work. Today I called had the unlimited texting added instead and the lady said that would cover the mms. Now my bill is 80 bucks before taxes and guess what...still service denied. Even put my sim in my v3xx and no mms service. I don't even care about sending them, just want to receive them. I'm so pissed atm heh. If anyone on these forums works for AT&T please hook me up!!!

It's not doing anything for me either. AT&T said i had MMS when i called them, too. AHHH. I saw something about a "fetch" button to receieve MMS. I never saw that, and i have the newest version.. how exactly do you attempt to receieve them?

You need to install the mobile finder and mobile preview to see your mms. Hope it will help you.

does this allow you to receive video and sound files or just pictures, since we can only send pictures I'm wondering if others are able to send WHATEVER they want. I'm thinking of upgrading my plan to the family unlimited messages (30 a mo. and me and my wife get unlimited) but if I am still crippled in the mms category it seems not worth it.
my sis sent me a voice clip too and I was able to move it to the voice recordings folder and listen to it on my vnotes app I am using T-mobile on 1.1.2

if your pictures are to small add this source to installer choose a phone to fake and your future pictures should be larger

you cant "fetch" them until your phone has actually got them
if you have got an MMS
then your phone will have a little "1" in a bubble on the swirlymms icon
      just like a text
but until then, you cant "fetch" or attempt to get anything

you need to make sure you have "System File Access" turned ON in mobilefinder
also turn OFF "Startup in Last Location"
then set your startup location to this exactly, caps and all

      /var/mobile/Media/MMSFiles

then what i do is hit the return button (if in a text box)
then hit finder right next to settings
      then exit the program
      respring
      and try going into it

I have the AT&T PPU plan AND the Family Unlimited plan and still can't get this thing to receive messages. I had it working great on Sunday with just the mmsc and proxy settings filled in and then i updated today and I'm having issues.

I have tried to uninstall and re-install and that doesn't work either.

Since installing Swirly, my EDGE has completely disappeared. I uninstalled and it's still gone. I restored and it's still gone. Am I going to have to use the Refurbish option on ZiPhone?

This is along the lines of viewing the received mms. right now i use mobile finder with the mobile preview plug-in to view received files but i was wondering if it would be a possibility to create a symbolic link from /private/var/mobile/Media/MMSFiles to /private/var/mobile/Media/DCIM/100APPLE so that you could view the images on your iPhone through Photos. I have no idea if this is even possible but just a thought....
