  • Receive MMS on the iPhone

SwirlySpace, the guys who brought us the MMS app back in December, have updated to version 0.3, which now lets you receive MMS!

This is "very rough" according to them, but a new version will be released soon after which will be much more polished. The good news is - it works. MMS receiving on the iPhone! It should appear on Installer within 24 hours.

    http://blog.swirlyspace.com/

You can add this from Swirly's source until Ste gets it up - swirlyspace.com/SwirlySpace.xml and add version 0.3.2.

A list of carrier settings can be found here.

T-Mobile USA's settings are (thanks, insomniaparatus):

    T-Mobile (USA)
    MMSC: 216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
    Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080
    MMS-APN: wap.voicestream.com

Works like a charm you can even make a symlink to the 100APPLE folder from MMSFiles (only problem is the 100APPLE camera roll folder will now be cluttered with text files etc. from the rest of your mms). I personally don't mind taking the extra step to copy the file to the other folder. But if automation is your thing symlink it up .

      MY PROBLEM:

I have ATT unlimited family txt plan:

I'm able to send and recieve mms messages from my wife (who also owns an iphone with same settings)

I'm able to recieve from others with MMS.

When I send this "other" person an mms she says that the her phone always says the file is too big no matter what size I put swirlymms to (even minimum 8k) We both have ATT US but she has a regular non-iphone

      What is wrong here?

sounds like you need a source that has it on there... and I really don't know which source that is. Every time I reinstall my phone software I reinstall my sources and I've never NOT had it...

I tried it on 1.1.4 att phone, worked perfectly. Sent on to myself and it both sent and receieved. Moved to my photos folder and changed file name and created a thumbnail and it worked perfectly.

make sure you have ste's repository in your sources list. He is the one thatis hosting it.

Make sure you have installed community sources and then i think it will show up.

I guess I must be thick or something but I've added the source and all I can find still is SwirlyMMS 0.2.2. Is there a server down? has it been released on STE yet?

      Check your settings!

Have anyone seen a problem like this?

I can send and receive just fine. My issue is that now I get an SMS telling me to go to www.t-mobilepictues.com and enter a password to view the image online. But the day before I received the image just fine.

In MobileFinder, under MMSFiles folder the latest received MMS is a text file that says: "the application file IMG_001.jpg has been deleted" making it seem that t-mobile stripped the image out of the message!

My husband has the same problem and I know we both have SMS/MMS turned on in our accounts--he has a corporate account while mine is personal.

What changed? The settings are exactly what was given in the first post for T-mobile.

why is it that anything that I do in mobilefinder doesn't do anything? (i.e. i choose to move a MMS picture and it does nothing.) I also get this problem with deleting the history.

further, I cannot SSH into the phone anymore. I know it's a separate issue but I only noticed it after installing this.

      any help is appreciated.

you need to have MobilePreview & TextEditor for Finder to open Images!
