  • MMS on the iPhone

Wednesday ModMyI member Suavphisticated has released MMS, a native iPhone app which can send MMS directly from your iPhone. MMS receiving is NOT yet implemented, but is in the development process.

Great job Suavphisticated - this has been MUCH needed by the iPhone community! It will be interesting to see how MMS receiving is implemented here.

MMS is available via the Community Source maintained by Ste.

NOTE: this is still an early beta release. It is slightly buggy, but is working. You will need to set it up with your carrier MMSC info. Please add your carriers MMSC info to the Carrier APN Wiki so we can get a nice complete listing. There's a good list here too (thanks, mjaydb) You will also need MMS enabled on your account.

    Digg it.

I did get it working with the ATT information at the beginning of this post I THINK...However, as I read a few posts back I get the service DENIED ERROR. I think this is the other reason that people are having to call ATT to get the MMS stuff turned on. Can someone confirm this?????

Yes... U do this by ordering a plan that is not a iPhone data plan since I have another phone on my account...I got the 20 dollar iPhone plan and the unlimited family text plan (which includes the MMS)

The AT&T are exactly this~Nothing More Nothing Less
      MMSC: mmsc.cingular.com
      Proxy: 66.209.11.032

Don't add no extra "0" type exactly as I typed.

You need to make sure that you have MMS added to your plan. If Not call AT&T and tell you to add Pay As You Go MMS. IF YOU DONT HAVE SOME TYPE OF MMS PLAN ON YOUR IPHONE THIS WILL NOT WORK AT ALL

ALLLLLso: Once you have MMS added to your plan, you will not have to fill in the MMS-specific APN settings. That complete section will be blank, empty, default.

Make sure that the "m" in the top right-hand corner is green. You will get an error when trying to send and its gray. This successfully works with 1.1.3 without any errors and AT&T. I've seen some reports where it works with 1.1.2 however I've receives errors but I'm working on resolving that.

For anyone getting a retarded rep on the phone from AT&T, just tell them to do it because their system will not stop them from putting that in thier system. I was lucky enough to get a rep who knew exactly what I wanted to do and my reason for adding the MMS package. Other than the wait to get him on the phone, the adding confirming and saying thanks and goodbyes, didn't take more than 3 minutes.

Tell the rep, "I know it's not compatible with my iPhone, but your networks are. It seems like an odd request but I would like it do it please. Your system will not stop you from adding that feature to my plan. If you don't know how to, can I please speak to another rep" ... that pretty much will get you MMS on your plan GARENTEED (misspeld on purpose... what do you think I am? Sears?! ;-P)

Forgot to put my problem :-P

I just did a fresh Restore to 1.1.4 and Jailbroke it with ZiPhone. Installed SwirlyMMS 0.3.6 and edited settings to the following:

      MMSC: mmsc.cingular.com
      Proxy: 66.209.11.032

      APN: [Empty]
      Username: [Empty]
      Password: [Empty]

      Image size: Medium

I make a test message and send, but get the following error message:

      Failed to send MMS
      Possible incorrect mmsc setting.
      Unexpected http response
      (HTTP/1.1 403 Forbidden)

Any help would be apreciated... if not then waiting aint an issue.

I have the same exact problem.
I have the family unlimited Text Messaging plan.
I have 2 iPhones on the Plan.
One is running 1.1.4 and the other is running 1.1.2

The one running 1.1.4 gives me this message when i try to send:
      unexpected http response
      (HTTP/1.1 403 Forbidden)

The iPhone running 1.1.2 works Perfectly.

      any suggestions?
i see there is a lot of people saying it works on their 1.1.4's

i have swirlyMMS version 3.7 on both phones and the settings from their website on them for AT&T. They are both iTunes activated.
