  • The Official ModMyi.com AppStore App

So uh... since we're the biggest iPhone customizing site out there (besides... well, Apple, maybe?), I guess it makes sense to have an iPhone app. Which we've always thought, but hey, we're picky. We've finally got something for you all though! After over a month waiting to get approved, you can now search the AppStore for ModMyi and grab our official iPhone app. Do it.

You can do a lot from the app, including:

    • View, reply to, and tip us on News.
    • Read and respond to forum posts.
    • Search the site by keyword or latest posts.
    • Read, write, and respond to messages.
    • Subscribe to threads and view your list of subscribed threads.
    • And more...

The app is free, with iAds to support it (kinda like the site itself is) - although if you're the type who says "screw the ads, I want this app even MORE all over my screen" there's an in-app purchase of $2.99 to remove the ads.

Let us know your thoughts on it, this is version 1 and we'd like to know what you do and don't like about it so we can tweak it.

    Go get it (iTunes).

I'm curious if the app will be updated to support the new layout. As of now, the app is useless.

It is on the list to fix. Right now the owners are at an event/meeting for most of the week. So please hang in there and it will be updated.

Well I hope it gets updated fast. Because I check up on MMI at least 5 times a day and I have to use my iPhone due to the fact my laptop is broken and I check most of the time in school. I still will check up on it and be an active member but I have to say it's a pain in the butt trying to use the forums on my iPhone without a mobile layout and without the app. :-/
But I know that MMI will get right on it!

Are they planning on upkeeping the app while simultaneously enabling Tapatalk support?

yes, app is broke, yes it is being fixed and a update will be submitted asap. we didn't expect it to go totally offline and had code ready and implemented server side shortly after the upgrade, unfortunately it didn't work as expected.

plus side, the app update will likely also include ipad compatibility

Any way to just get the site working through tapatalk?

Did not notice this on the news page nor is there any notice on appstore, or did I miss something? imo - pretty lame to continue to allow downloads for a broken app!

      You missed something.

It was in the news page article about the site upgrade posted many times throughout that thread.

I can't get the official modmyi app from the App Store to work. It always fives me a pop-up saying that the forum is temporarily available. Does anyone know what's up with that?

I'm sorry, I didn't read anything before I posted that. Is there an ETA? Should we remove the current app or just wait for an upgrade.

So are they going to implement tapatalk support? When I first went to the site on my iPad 2 after the update, I was presented with a popup saying it supports tapatalk so i went ahead and purchased it. Still no compatability for it...

Nah I dont think so. They chose to make their own app instead of going the tapatalk route like other forums.

I understand that. But I never once received a popup recommending tapatalk for this forum until after the update.

Thats weird. I always received those pop-ups saying that, even well before the site update.

I find it funny that the MODMYI app doesn't work with iOS 5

Then I won't put you at the top of the thinkers list if you can't figure out why a beta firmware that the public doesn't even have yet isn't compatible with MMI and vice versa.

Well most apps work for with it... so it must be a poorly written app. I guess you aren't at the top of the thinkers list either if you can't see that an app that is basically just accessing web pages doesn't work across even beta firmware.

Actually, its stopped working when ModMyi got a makeover. The app is being updated.

If you read this thread or even just read the post at the top of this page you would know that the app isn't working because the site was updated a few weeks ago which requires the app to be updated (which is in the works). It has absolutely nothing to do with Apple having released 5.0 beta. The app is not working on any firmware right now.
