  • Apple Investigating Exploding iPhones

    On Tuesday European Commission officials reported that Apple is investigating the reports of exploding iPhones. Apple is claiming that the exploding iPhone issues are isolated and not a general problem.

    According to European Commission spokeswoman Helen Kearns
    Apple have come back to us ... and what they've said to us is that they consider these are isolated incidents. They don't consider that there's a general problem.
    An Apple Europe Ltd. spoksman said
    We are aware of these (media) reports and we are waiting to receive the iPhones from the customers. Until we have the full details, we don't have anything further to add.
    This comes after recent various reports of iPhones exploding the most recent from a teenager in France who claimed that he was injured when his iPhone made a hissing noise and shattered.

    There are no specifics concerning which generation of iPhone Apple is investigating as this issue stems back at least the the iPhone 3G when an iPhone owner was burned by his device.

      I'm suprised that didn't didn't say it was because the iPhones had been jailbroken and its now a major threat to everyone with a jailbroken iphone!

      i think exploding is a lil dramatic the iphone in the pic does not look like it exploded mabe a very high temp over heat from a battery short but thats it
      trust me i blow things up all the time

      I think exploding is carrying it a little to far. It just looks melted. Something smells fishy in denmark.

      You probably will not be able to travel on any airlines now if you are carrying a iphone because of it being a possible explosive .

      Apple will likely just blame the incident on the owner of the iPhone and try to sweep this under the rug, can't have any of the easily impressionable consumers thinking that it doesn't "just work"

      guys the iphone is blue???? maybe he changed the original case to blue and when putting back the parts pinched the lipo battery and eventually led to fire.

      it's a case that's made to look like the back of the phone, only in color. they have a bunch of them at the malls around here

      In the Netherlands, a man’s iPhone spontaneously combusted in his car, burning a hole through the seat. It was there only a few minutes.
