  • GPush should be live soon!

It's been over a month since GPush was submitted to the App Store and word has it that it should be available for download within 24 hours. It was actually live for a short time but had server issues and was taken down. The app will be priced at $0.99 for the first week and then up to $1.99 so grab it quick! The app is simple to use... open it up... type in your user name and password and start getting push notifications!

Why cant Google have Push Mail via the Mail app? I have my Gmail going to my MobileMe anywho. Having to use another App for Gmail Push is stupid, if Yahoo can do it why cant Google?

Sorry Google, you miss that one, if you post it free mayybe and I repeat mayyyybe I would use it, I think it's not useless becuase is metting its propuse, I think it's more like pointless, it would be really good to be integrated in the mail.app like everyone else say. You realy slip on this one google.

Y'all are missing the point of the app. Yes the iPhone has IMAP GMail which will FETCH your email every 15/30/60 mins. This drains battery because if you have it set to every 15 mins to get your emails it sucks. This will allow you to turn your fetch setting to manual and allow push to tell you when you have mail. Also no more 15/30/60 min DELAY in your notification which for some people is a PAIN. If you think th app is worthless and you don't need instant notification and can deal with unnecessary battery drain with fetch then this is not for you. For the rest of us this is a much awaited delight.

      ^^oh if it's a 3rd party then I take my words back, I'm sorry google I still love u

^good point poseidon I didn't see it that way, so let me see if I understand, this is just an app that just notif you that you have a new email, then you go to the mail app and do a manual fetch? Am I right? If it's like that it is really good for my battery and good to forget about the 15 min delay.

      Details:

You open the app, enter your gmail credentials (encrypted, transferred and stored safely of course), login, and that’s it. If you so choose, you never have to open the actual GPush app again. Once logged in, the servers belonging to GPush’s developers, Tiverias, make use of the IMAP IDLE functionality and ping the servers for you. Taking care of pinging and other pushy stuff on their servers means your iPhone battery can stay nice and cool as it doesn’t have to do a thing.

This went live on the Oz iTunes Store late yesterday, but was removed after a few hours later. Didn't get a change to buy it. Hopefully will do soon.

You people don't know a good app when you see one. Yahoo has push email and I wish someone would make an app like this for yahoo.

Not only are you getting instant Gmail, but you're getting push notifications too, so you don't have to open the Mail app and navigate through other email accounts to read a new email. You'll get some of the email in a little pop-up so you can see if it's worth spending the time to open the app and read the full email or ignore it if it's spam.

      And for $1, it's a good deal!

Depends. If you don't mind having an extra app and like text notifications, then yes, it is better. This thing will do exactly what the Mail app would do with push Gmail except it gives you a pop-up with a preview of your email and lets you see some of your message without opening any app, which is better IMO.

I dont know if its been mentioned, but because of server problems, GPush was temporarily taken down from the App Store. I think the developer said the app should be live again sometime today. To keep you posted, Gmail Push 4 iPhone (GPush4iPhone) on Twitter
