  • [APPLE] Jaibreaking Breaks the iPhone, Ends the World

Apple has ampd up their Jailbreaking attacks once again publishing a list of ways jailbreaking is a "major source of instability, disruption of services, and other issues." This follows just a few short days after Apple's claims that jailbreaking is for drug dealers and continues Apple's anti-jailbreak propaganda in their effort to make jailbreaking illegal.

Lets examine all of Apple's claims:
Device and application instability: Frequent and unexpected crashes of the device, crashes and freezes of built-in apps and third-party apps, and loss of data.
Yes this rarely happens through bad combinations of apps off of Cydia. As the jailbreak community grows older these issues occur less and less and when they are identified they are typically fixed asap by devs. That is a risk you take when installing third party software, albeit a minor one.
Unreliable voice and data: Dropped calls, slow or unreliable data connections, and delayed or inaccurate location data.
What does this have to do with jailbreaking exactly? There are plenty of people with non-jailbroken iPhones experiencing these problems. BS.
Disruption of services: Services such as Visual Voicemail, YouTube, Weather, and Stocks have been disrupted or no longer work on the device. Additionally, third-party apps that use the Apple Push Notification Service have had difficulty receiving notifications or received notifications that were intended for a different hacked device. Other push-based services such as MobileMe and Exchange have experienced problems synchronizing data with their respective servers.
This concerning hacktivated unlocked iPhones on networks that aren't "approved" by Apple. Jailbroken iPhones that are on "legitimate" carriers and aren't hacktivated don't appear to have this issue at all (mine doesn't). This stems back to the dev team's push fix for the hacktivated iPhones on non-Apple carriers and I'll have to point out that that push fix is still in alpha, and it is likely that some devs are working on addressing the issue.

The issue has nothing to do with jailbreaking and everything to do with unlocking. Since unlocking is perfectly legal in the US Apple is trying to attack jailbreaking instead. Ya know, cloak and dagger, smoke and mirrors, BS.
Compromised security: Security compromises have been introduced by these modifications that could allow hackers to steal personal information, damage the device, attack the wireless network, or introduce malware or viruses.
Using computers or nearly anything electronic increases your odds of allowing hackers to steal personal information. That is like saying using a windows computer to download porn could possible introduce malware and viruses. Solution? Make Windows illegal. Once again ridiculous. Maybe Apple should worry about things like an SMS vulnerability that affects all iPhones instead of just jailbroken ones.
Shortened battery life: The hacked software has caused an accelerated battery drain that shortens the operation of an iPhone or iPod touch on a single battery charge.
Running applications shortens battery life. Any application jailbroken or not. On any operating system. Anywhere. That's why Apple battery life specs for all of its devices including computers are higher than real life.

I for one enjoy being able to do other things on my iPhone while listening to Pandora. The shortened battery life is an trivial consequence that I'm aware of and accept.
Inability to apply future software updates: Some unauthorized modifications have caused damage to the iPhone OS that is not repairable. This can result in the hacked iPhone or iPod touch becoming permanently inoperable when a future Apple-supplied iPhone OS update is installed.
Jailbreaking is extremely safe. There are millions of Jailbroken iPhones in the world that are operating just fine with out any permanent damage. I'd argue that 99.9% of the .01% of cases where an iPhone is "permanently damaged" because of Jailbreaking is the result of a user not understanding how to restore properly.

This looks like more of a warning that Apple intends to purposely create an update designed to break Jailbroken devices than current fact.

via apple thx JazJon for the tip

Wait, what about the 3.1 software that was just released? Anyone hear of any progress on that?

Edit: Never mind, they just posted something.

Talking about taking over the world.. Did Apple talk abouts its own SMS security flaw that could literllay let others take over iphones around the world!!..They fixed it in 3.0.1. So do the devs of jailbroken apps if a bug or a security issue is found in their software...
Apple inc is retarded excluing its hard working engineers who are whip lashed after something like this found.

My God.. apple should just allow jailbreaking in firmware.. OBVIOUSLY they'll lose a couple of bucks but what about the customer satisfaction??
NONE of the applications i REALLY REALLY like (except for IM+) come from the app store.

Their claims are so dumb.. it's like saying that installing Windows on a MacBook Pro will break it, make it un-updateable, drain battery, make it crash more often (kinda true that one)..
They should just accept that fact that there's quite enough smart people around and not all of them work for apple.

Grow up, make customers happy and give the same oportunities to everyone...

Recently (unemployed) reseachers from crapple have discover that jaibreaking your iPhone/iPod can cause the following disasters (FIXED, THANKS RESCUER)

      1. Earthquakes. jailbreak the device will make unastable tha vibrator causing a massive amount of vibration when you receive a call while touching your nose, the magnitude of the malfuntional vibration can cause a earthquake up to 4.5 crapter scale

2.Jailbreak the device can cause hair lose!!! Mobile substrate contains certain code that can crawl to your head and make you lose your hair. be really careful, don't keep your head close to the speaker if you jailbroke your device.

3.Global warming. because of the "incontrolable" drain of battery in jailbroken devices the enviroment is suffering, every 3% of your battery drained equals 0.34 seonds closer to a complete polar melting.

4.Swrape Flu. It's really mortal and dangerous, due to the jailbreaking of these devices the viruses and malware that "are" attacking "jailbroken devices only" are taking a biological form thanks to the code of redsn0w those now "real viruses" can navigate throught the audio jack and crawl up the headphones to your hears, specially when you are using pandora.

5.Networks Downgrade. Due to the jailbreak process hackers can take control of all the carriers and make a downgrade to the radio frquency (except att and hte other "authorized" carriers) transforming 3G and EDGE to 56k modem. and sms services back to telegram system. also the picture messaging will desapear from all the carriers (except att and the other "authorized" carriers). Voicemail will become just gosip.

6.Push notifications. tha push notification on jailbreak devices are not working, but the real danger it's that the malicious code that corrupted the push notifications can travel at high speeds thruogh the network and can cause a general crash on all servers, the push notification will have to "notify" the non jailbroken devices with smoke signals causing "obedient" costumers panic and will lead to further thraumas.

7.Security. beside your personla information that can be stolen on jailbroken devices only, all your underwear will be stolen too for profesional hacker that can take the information of what kind of underwear you use, color, brand through the jailbroken device.

8.Memory loss and corruption. I'm not talking about the device memory I'm talking about the human memory, jailbreaking your device can cause extremely loss of your memory, according with...mmm..this guy...what was the name?, well that guy said that jailbreaking your device will....do something in your brain, I don't remember right now what was it, but it's really serious.

      9. I don't remember this one, I;m sorry.

      10. Nightmares. Applications downloaded from (they can't say ilegal yet) other stores than appstore, will cause you nightmares because they are not signed by apple.

      11. Personality disorders. Application like winterboard will merge into your brain making you want to change your personality like you change your theme, then you will want to change parts of your body like you change for example the carrier banner, and finally you will want to change your skin color and add "extentions". all this because you jailbroke your device.

12.jailbreake your device will lead to suicide. user will kill themselves whe they jailbreak their devices and realize that the phone will stop working and explode. this problem is inminet.

13.finally when when certain amount of devices jailbroken is reached, we don't know what's the exact number. (they didn't want to release that level of information, but they say it's getting closer everyday) the world will experience a radical change in it's core and will explode and the live as we know it will be end.

      crapple said.

They also tell us about a theory no confirmed yet, but they think the aliens will invade us just to get such as xxxgreat (please ignore this error)xxx TERRIBLE idea to jailbreak their own devices.

Dear user PLEASE don't trust this information, I made it up. (I feel the need to be clear at this point, I said it because two of my friends restore their iphones to factory settings because what apple is saying and It could be possible that maybe some read this and restore his/her iphone/ipod beacuse is fear to lose the hair.)

Don't take it personal Apple but you are begging to sound that stupid. We are really glad and thankful for such as great devices and OS that you guys desing but don't make us hate you, we love you Apple, gives some liberty and love back to do whatever we want with our devices.

Man this really work to let all that anger out of my system lol

for what apple is saying I forgot to mention my own personal theory about jailbreak, Jailbreak your device can cause paranoid disorder and hallucinations about complots and conspirations. If that's true I think Steve jailbroke his iPhone.

So Apple's logic is a jail broken iPhone is a danger because you can add third party apps to it. But putting third party apps on a MacBook (which has a lot more processing power) and which Apple blesses is not. This is so stupid , Apple you are such idiots.

Apple does this because it works and you don't need to look any further than the front page of your newspaper (or news website).
      1. Create a 'crisis' (The health care system is broken or The entire cellular network is at risk)
      2. Scare people (Fixing health care is required to fix the economy or Your personal information is at risk)
      3. Create a demon (Insurance companies, anyone who opposed reforming one sixth of our economy or People who jailbreak)
      4. Propose a solution that takes freedom away (National health care or Make jailbreaking illegal)

      Remember the 4 steps for the next time;
      1. 'Crisis'
      2. Scare
      3. Demon
      4. 'Solution'

Far too many people are easily manipulated with these 4 simple steps.

just hear me out and try to follow. if you agree with this just press thanks. Its just a long theory I have and I'm interested to see if there others with me.

      1. Apple releases the iPhone with 6-7 basic programs that an old school phone has + touch screen and wifi
      2. Apple's fan team rushes to buy a brick that has an accelerometer and looks 'cool'
      3. A big community arises that interests in unlocking the iPhone for the rest of the world and developers see the real capabilities of the phone.
      4. Apple tries to stop them. Fails. Releases 1.0.1, 1.0.2 firmwares
      5. The community becomes bigger and bigger.
      6. Apple tries to stop them. Fails. Releases 1.1.1, 1.1.2, 1.1.3 firmwares
      7. The community is REALLY big
      8. Apple tries to stop them. Fails. Releases 1.1.4 firmware
      9. The community is at its best. Installer, Cydia, hundreds of apps/games/utilities/tweaks for free making the iPhone the best phone that ever existed.
      10. Apple realizes that this will never stop. STEALS the concept of jailbreaking and developing and releases AppStore and firmware 2.0.
      11. Jailbreak still is present due to .. well we all know why ..
      12. Apple files lawsuits blah blah blah.
      13. Firmware 3.0 iPhone 3G S. hmmm

Why do you completely ignore the fact that those firmware actually bought valid improvements and bugfixes? Oh I see; they must have stolen the concept of bugfixes as well...If f/w were made solely to foil your plans- why would you even upgrade your phone? on a 2G? Downgrade to 1.0. 3G? 2.0. 3GS? Stay on 3.0 firmware from now on as the incremental releases bring no improvements whatsoever and are there only to stop us.
The jailbreaking community at is best is still a major minority of the TOTAL iPhone community. The "stolen" concept of AppStore allowed developers to build for the iPhone for the majority without having to jailbreak (many people can't). Quite ironically half of jailbreakers now jailbreak to- steal from these very same devs!
a few days ago when Yourtube was released, I sat on an unnamed IRC channel and actually watched people tell pumpkin (one of the people responsible for jailbreaking their very phone) that "no mod is worth $2" and that they "cracked it with impunity". Some people even asked pumpkin himself for help on where to put the cracked mod! I asked those same people about Apple's opinion and they are also in the process of whining.

13- A new firmware with new features and improvements and a new phone. Both are dastardly plans solely to stop jailbreakers.
      I see no theory.
Jailbreaking in the eyes of Apple and probably a lot of devs described below is just a medium to piracy so person x can get a little 59p /99c app for free.
