Lets keep this short and sweet. Yes, iPhone 3GS can be unlocked. No you can't yet (jailbreak and what not isn't released).

Until then the devs say DO NOT UPGRADE to firmware 3.1 if you want to be sure you can unlock when the 3GS jailbreak is released.

finally got mine to work on xp sp3

phone is now jailbroken just installed cydia via freez

pretty cool that you don't need to do a whole firmware install+restore. it just slaps your phone really hard in the face and voila! jailbroken!

I got past the jailbreak after few attempts and got cydia installed, but ultrasn0w isnt working properly with my t-mobile usa sim.

It shows t-mobile as the carrier, but I cant make calls or receive calls.

My phone does ring, but wont let me answer the call.

Anyone else get it to work yet?

yeah, i rebooted my phone. no cydia. freez downloads it, unpacks and installs it. says "finished". still no cydia, even after reboot.

and just to be clear, this young man is very talented. he doesnt need props from me. he seems well beyond that. i just meant his decision to run this today was a bit hasty

I don't think it was hasty at all! Of course I had no problems and don't need ultrasn0w. That said, the JB seems to have cleared up the last of my battery problems, yay! Definitely holding a charge better since JB this morning. I did 2 or 3 tweets, installed a cydia app, played a game for a few minutes, still at 100%. Pre-JB that would have been 3% loss. Prior to full restore and battery cycle over 2 days, would have been 5% loss.

The baseband is not relevant for a jailbreak, it only matters for unlocking.

I'll wait for the Dev Team to release theirs, I remember the early days when folks jumped on something too quickly and ended up with a bricked phone. My plain jane 3gs is ugly but I can wait.

Ultrasn0w works for me with T-mobile US. SBSettings makes it drop every few second, so I had to uninstall it for now.

Those who are complaining about WB, it's to do with the JB, can you remember what Saurik said about them fake JBs? Well, this is sort of the same as this uses different payloads I think.

Purplera1n RC2 working here- Tmobile USA. No issues for two days. I did notice that when you reboot, it will say no sim, no service, searching for approx. 3-4 min, then all is well and working. Wifi, SBSettings installed, ultrasn0w and everything is great
