The mobile app world is about to be rocked - literally - by the newest iOS developer on the block. Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am has launched a groundbreaking upstart digital media production company creatively dubbed “will.i.apps.” And the first creation of the new venture is rolling out for all iDevice users to see.
The Black Eyed Peas's newest music video for “The Time (Dirty Bit)” achieves something no other recording artist ever has. The band has debuted what is being called the world’s first and only 360-degree mobile music video. The “BEP360" mobile application for Apple's iPad, iPhone and iPod touch lets music lovers - and especially Black Eyed Peas fans - enjoy a music video experience like no other. The music video for “The Time (Dirty Bit)” uses 360-degree motion control and augmented reality to create a highly unorthodox music video presentation that, according to will.i.am, represents the future of music video entertainment on mobile devices.
will.i.app's spokesperson Sallie Olmsted says will.i.am launched the new venture to help “evolve how fans can interact with their favorite artists.” According to Olmsted, “The music video format that aired 30 years ago on MTV on your TV is evolving to fit in with today’s mobile lifestyle.” And the latest video from the Black Eyes Peas proves that point beautifully.
