Contest rules uphold the rights to acquire parts from other sources as long as proper documentation is acquired and any part of this contest's submissions may be updatability and subdued to change as I have seen other creators do so. I do hereby plan on releasing an update to this theme to change certain aspects and to retain originality. The use of certain icon patters was only intended to provide a concept image to the public audience, and was not planned as the final version. It also has allowed me to be able to fit into the competition's deadline so that I may still be able to compete with other. As seen in post 55 of this thread, I have stated that the icons will be changed as soon as possible. On the question of originality, throughout this thread I have seen many accounts of copy right infringement from skinning certain elements of themes, and nothing has been done to upload their. Also, as scene in this picture

, the theme iNav has clearly used an icon of the popular Linux distribution Ubuntu as scene at the bottom right hand corner of this screen shot. The original Ubunto logo is here, . If only the rule of originality is stated as a crime against my actions, please account it to all other themes. And if all themes are accounted for please go through all the rules to rule out any unjust theme provided in this contest. Other accusation have been made by people of this thread and to other themes as well. One specific accusation is

It clearly states an infringement of copy right, but disqualification has not been implemented. This augment continued for 5~7 posts and on, but was eventually ignored.
I stand on my right as a contestant participant to have equal opportunity as others and rules should not just be enforced toward me just because it was used as a concept. As humans we are all not perfect. Every participant in this contest has a life and has sacrificed some of their time to create such brilliant works. As a creator, I have just done that, but not to the fullest efficiency that I was able to create a brilliantly created theme and be submitted on time. I have run into some flaws and did not have the time to create certain elements, so substituted it as concept images in order to be able to release an update in the future to harness the originality as a requirement. As one final addition to this, the rules clearly stated that

I'll revisit it when the results come in. There's a big difference between using one 12px image vs your entire icon base.

Either way, we'll look into it tomorrow at noon when the results are in.

These specifics were not stated as part of the original set of rules. I will be read to present my defense report if needed tomorrow, approximately 5:00 PM Pacific (Time of which I come home).

I got the error too so I downloaded it on my macbook, ssh'd onto it, installed, and its awesome! actually the best theme I've ever seen. it covers EVERY part of the iphone!!. its so good.

on the other hand, i spent an hour installing iNav today and i hated it. 1 icon per page, only 6 or 8 icons in total. it was so inconvenient. and if you touched the screen anywhere other than the 1 icon then the internet opened cuz its based off of webclips.

dont get me wrong - its a beautiful theme, but its very inconvenient and once you realize that you cant even click the spot that says internet, sms, media player, etc... (you have to scroll to the page with the icon on it) then you really think theres no point.

its a great looking theme but way too inconvenient.

How will the apps be sent out?

Tears were rolling down my face as I read your post Gruntparty. Some of your justifications were really stretching it. First of all, the post about iNinja being similar to other themes implied just that. I don't think they meant that the identical parts were taken from other themes and submitted as original work. Second, even saying that those icons taken from the Deep theme could be used in the Black Darkness theme even though it was supposed to be original work, I didn't see in your post that permission was granted. Personally I consider the icon sets to be the foundation of a theme.

I will provide my evidence for my case once I get home. Fully aquired permissions were granted to me by original author to use icon set in this theme. I will be leaving for work now, but will be more than happy to forword my emails stating that I have permission. Also the rules were not specific enought to justify what I have done as wrong. As far as I see it, I have done nothing wrong.

Well, got to go now, will be back at 5:00 PM Pasific time.

Untill then please (admins) don't disqualify me until you have seen my evidence.

ssh into your phone and go to the themes directory where iNinja is installed and open the theme folder. Once in the theme folder navigate to /folders/springboard.app/en.proj (i believe im at work so going off the top of my head) and you will find the SPRINGBOARD.STRING files in there. Download them to your pc and edit them using a text editor. Just find the "slide to iNinja" line and change it to your name. Save and upload and overwrite.

simple as that.. if you have any troubles email me at [email protected] and i can give you some better instructions.

      thanks

I'm a little curious as to why so many people voted for iNav. I tried it and it was really annoying to have to change my category's folders and i think its a waste of space to only have one icon per page. And why have the app names on the side if you can't even click on them. How many people actually tried iNav before they voted for it?

Maybe because its different. Like I said in the theme's post, it wont be everyone's cup of tea. but it is obviously making waves on this forum, so some people must like it for a reason

Really lightmaster?? Cause I whole-heartedly agree. It should have been removed from the polls as soon as it was clear it didn't even meet the requirements of being in "proper Winterboard format." But people were voting for it without even trying it because it looked "new and different" in the screenshots and so it took 40% of all votes. Most didn't even attempt an install and it is a JOKE it is even on Cydia because it is not in proper Winterboard format so it can't install from Cydia. It still has ZERO downloads while the themes that deserved to be in 1st or 2nd place in this contest have well over 10,000 Cydia downloads after just two days of being available on Cydia. Those being iNinja, and Resident Evil Maximum. The reason iNav did so well was because rather than releasing all the themes on Cydia simultaneosly to the web release, the Cydia release took two days after the initial release causing people that were already having to SSH themes to their phones only choose to SSH one or two, thus they made the decisions on which ones to vote for based off of screenshots and most didn't even bother with the SSH'ing. The whole thing was fairly rigged from the beginning due to this fact. Basically forcing people to spend a whole bunch of time SSH'ing themes over to pick the best, or just choosing what they thought should win based on screenshots. So therefore, most went the easy route and based their vote ENTIRELY off of screenshots. Very unfotunate side-effect of not having the themes on Cydia simultaneously.

Don't get me wrong, I think it looks cool and all, but it seems very inconvenient to have to not only install it through SSH but also to have each icon on different pages. If, and i doubt this will ever be possible, but if you could click on the name on the side of the screen to launch the app, then I might try it out for a few days instead of deleting it seconds after fully installing it.

I agree with the guy who posted above me in that I think most people voted for it based on its single screenshot and they probably thought that you could click on the names on the side of the screen. But, I could be wrong. For all I know, I could be one of 3 or 4 people in the world that doesn't like the theme. That's just my opinion.

Also, to the guy who created iNav, I'm not dissing your theme. I'm just saying that I'm confused as to why so many people voted for it.
