  • iPhone OS 3.0 - MMS, Copy/Paste, Turn-by-Turn, and much more Summer '09

So it looks like the new OS for the iPhone will be showcased on March 17. Note, this doesn't mean it will be RELEASED next week. As to what the OS will bring, who knows but if it doesn't have push notifications I will be a very, very angry individual.

Why no Video recording, and why dint anyone ask them during Q&A????? This is the only thing keeping me from "needing / wanting" to jailbreak. (I dont need unlock)

And when the dust settles, everyone will realise that Apple have screwed us over and given us a lame *** update again.

There is nothing in the update that is new or revolutionary, just stuff that should have been there from the get go.

      Thanks again Apple.

Now when will the new iPhone be announced? Im guessing a price drop on the 3g fairly soon....

Apparently, the reason MMS wont work for the 1st iPhone is because of different radios. Also, the talk of no new iPhone announced got me thinking, what could Apple add to a new iPhone to make it worth it?

Im sure they will unlock 3.0. With this "soft" unlock, they only really want to bother with important firmwares until they get a solid unlock...

3.0 will be released to EVERYONE!

that's bs, mms works on gen 1 just like it does for every cellphone made in the last 5-7 years at least. swirly proves it. Apple could some stuff to make the iphone 2 better. true multitasking, better integration (synergy), better graphics for games, improved UI (andriod/pre notifications), etc. Nothing too big, but there's some stuff they can do off the top of my head. they won't have to reinvent the wheel, just make it rounder

what a huge disappointment for us 1st Gen iPhone users, no A2DP for us. This is what we get for being a loyal apple customer and buying it first before everyone else? I swear they are doing this on purpose to force us to upgrade to 3G and make some more money.

No MMS and A2DP for iphone 2G. It is total BS. There is no hardware limitation for it now to have mms. I hope our trustworthy devs can make it happen when it is available to iphone 2G phones.

Always the case with Apple. first excite us and then let us down!!

I hate only being 99% satisfied, all they had to do was enable video recording, and I would be happy my wish list was complete.

Why didn't anyone at least ask Apple during the Q&A at the end about recording video?

Now all we have to do is wait for the jailbreak.lol

*Can anyone send me a copy of the 3.0 Firmware Beta?* i don't know the 1st thing about developing but i'm contemplating buying the kis just for the beta.lol

Overall pretty good stuff but nearly all of it has been in other mobile OS's for some time. Now Apple can say they are at par feature wise I guess, and are the class leader in the UI quality. Next iPhone will be interesting.

Timing of this release suggests we wont see new hardware for a while still. Any thoughts on that?

vastly improved battery life should be enough for me. whether this comes via a new cpu/graphics/extended battery or combination of all im sure it wont matter.

ill still be queuing to get it

if you currently have the 2g, dont rush out to buy the 3g. the new iphone will be launched alongside 3.0.

      3) They allow voice turn by turn driving directions

      5) Oh yeah, they better have something similar to SBsettings. I donít want to have to dig through 4 menus just to shut on/off bluetooth

Is that too much to ask for?

Hopefully itís a lot faster and has less lag issues, and or app memory leak crashes
I would mind losing jailbreak, if it wasn't for jailbreak none of this would be happening and there wouldn't be an apps store. Apple is doing this because no matter how much FUD they produce people still jail broke there phones.

Very True (huge thanks) but yes I'm probably lie'n to myself if I say I wouldn't jailbreak even with most of my wish list complete. What bugs me the most right now is they didn't add the ability to record video? Does anyone have a logical guess to why Apple is anti video recording?
