  • Mophie Juice Pack, Juice up your iPhone 3G! (Giveaway Ended!)

The new iPhone 3G comes with the new 3G connectivity and a new problem namely Batter Drainage. Mophie has taken the challenge to fix it with their new Juice Pack, which is the first Apple certified “Works with iPhone” battery and uses the Apple’s 30-pin dock connector. Now, this might not be very useful for everyone but for a hardcore user like me who’s always surfing and chatting, it’s a must!

The packaging is just wonderful and especially the gift packaging I received. The battery backup comes with a Mini USB 2 cable for charging and a small instruction manual.

Well, I previously owned a Storm Battery Backup and used it all the time with my 3G iPhone but it didn’t provide me enough “Juice” which was a big downside. Another fault was that it used to loosely hang on my phone but the Mophie terminates both of the problems for me!

It’s a great concept that doubles as a battery backup and a case too. It feels quite nice in the hand with the extra rubber grip on sides. The color scheme of the case is zippy with the green colored inside. Its design is nice with the black matte finished body on the outside and green soft material inside. The edges are thick and curvy which ensures no harm to the phone. The pack is quite bulky but it’s obviously better than the ‘non-case’ type extra battery. Another great advantage of the design is that you can use the Mophie anytime and all the time and even when calling!

But, the main feature as the company advertises is that it provides “more than double” power to the phone and as per my experience, this is quite true. With Wi-Fi switched on all the time and heavy chatting on Beejive, but rarely any calling, a fully charged Mophie combined with a fully charged phone lasts the whole day, till late night and it takes just 4 hours to charge! Another great feature of this pack is that while your phone is plugged, you can sync it too, which means that you don’t need to remove this everytime just to sync. It also sports a great new feature namely “Intelligent Power Distribution” which enables the use of Mophie instead of iPhone’s battery while charging at the same time! Also, some other small features include battery indicator on the back and uses a Mini USB 2 port to charge.

Now, like everything else, it has some negatives too. First of all, as a case, it is bulky and doesn’t provide full protection to the phone, which means that you could harm the when you drop it, unlike if it’s in a decent protective case. Also, the back attracts lots of lint, which makes maintenance difficult. Other than the above, the only issue left is the price point (as always). Now, everybody won’t like to shell out those 99 bucks for just an extra battery but for the hardcore user like me, the extra buck does not matter for that much needed juice!

You can get it off Mophie for $99 but for those who still feel it is too expensive, I have an extra Mophie Juice Pack 3G for giveaway! To get it, just comment with M- Why you need it (mandatory). The winner will be selected randomly by 7th February and the pack can be shipped worldwide. Finally, for those who do not own an iPhone 3G or just don’t want this, comment normally without the M and beware, I will verify the winner before sending prize.

well i could really use this seeing as how I'm always in school for the most part of my day just playing games over the schools wifi with my friends and by the time i get out i barely have enough battery life to make a call to my girlfriend to ask her out to dinner that night. so it really would be nice to have a little extra battery life to play with

M- hey, the reason I really need this juice pack is I'm a traveler, I work for a going green company to find out places that has desertion, no grass, and trees. Therefore while I'm out working I don't have anywhere to charge my iphone, while I'm on the plane I don't bring my laptop, it's just a extra load. Also I would purchase on but for economical reasons our family is not buying "extras" so we can stay under our budget. It would be a great prize if I won, thanks

I really need this, I work outside a lot working on data lines. I use the blue tooth to keep my hands free and need the GPS to find locations. Coupled with the 3G my iPhone is dead in a few hours when I have to go outside. I would use the car lighter if there was one, but we use a golf cart kind of thing to get around the grounds. I have to carry around a damn nextel just in case, it's annoying. If i win, that's cool, but either way, I'm gonna get one. Thanks for the offer though, here's to hoping!

but it of course is apple certified as well and more importantly gives u a little more than double your regular battery life. =]
Incase pwns this charger. Whoever wrote this post was mistaken saying it is the only "apple certified" extended battery. Usually modmyi dosent make such noob mistakes.

I need this because feb 1st is my birthday and I'm always on the go from one job to the next. I love my phone and i show everyone it. I would love to be able to show my phone all day long to everyone and still have juice left at the end of the day.
I jailbroke my phone and I run background apps. Which kill the battery even more but i need those apps running for work.

Thanks in advance if I win.

I need it because I run my business off the phone all day. Email, tetheting, phone calls, sms.... Etc It gets old leaving my phone in cargo van while I'm inside a customers home. The I actually have to talk to people instead of listen to podcasts or a audiobook. Great giveaway

I would like to win this this as I travel all over the country (and sometimes out of) working with the DOD and homeland security as a private contractor (means I buy all my own gear) Having this pack would increase my productivity and the ability to stay connected while working.

I need it because as a trainer I could tell everyone how great it is. My typical classroom size is 30+ people 3 - 4 times per week. Think of all the free advertising you would get. ;-)

I could use this battery pack due to the fact my kids love to take my iphone while in the care and play games. nothing would be better than having the extra juice for when the kids kill the phone i have enough juice to at least make a phone call if needed.

I need it because I am often not near a plug to plug my iPhone in and am on it all day. Without it, I don't have access to my email, chat, and texts and not to mention the internet. It is important for me to be able to have access to this information.

I have the power slider and he Juice.
Due to the shape of the juice it feels awkard and leave teh top of the phone vunerable to damage.
The Power slider covers the entire phone.
The power slider does make the phone larger but I found the symetrical shape easier to handle and more aestetic.

both weigh and last about the same.
Great add ons for heavy users and when charging is not available

I need it b/c it seems like something I would need since I practically live at the airport and I'm too cheap to buy it myself.

As I've heard, Power slider doesn't hold charge for more than few hours! Also, t pulls the screen protector...
Last of all, Mophie provides more power as power slider doubles the phone's battery EXACTLY but Mophie adds a bit more than double. Moreover, the green color is zippy as i said.

M - Why you want it (mandatory)

I live a couple of blocks away from a gas station. I went and filled the car up with gas then went inside and paid the attendant. However, instead of getting back into the car and driving back home...I left the service station and walked home, leaving the car behind. It didn't dawn on me until I'd been home for a brief period of time that something was wrong and then I clicked! I'd gone and left the car behind. I sheepishly went back across the road to collect my car and got an ear-full of laughter from the attendant and his cohorts. Needless to say that every time I go back to get either gas or other items of necessity I now get a response of "Are you sure you haven't forgotten anything?"" from the attendants with a friendly grin. (I still haven't had the courage to tell my wife about this).

anyways, i think i should have this bc i use my phone constantly, for work and for fun, and most days i have to charge my phone at lunch bc i get the 10% message already. this would greatly help me. please give it to me. thank you.

As I travel quite frequently for research, there are days that go by where I can't find a place, or have the opportunity to charge my phone. Yeah, I know, I could use a USB port to do the dirty deed, but when I am out working and stuck in outer Mongolia or the middle of Cambodia (believe it or not, both have semi-decent cell service), battery life can be quiet precious and almost as valuable as water.

Rather than having to turn my phone off out of fear of a dead battery and a flat tire in the middle of nowhere, it would be great to have that extra power for essential communication!

Another reason - haven't seen this type of thing in Japan yet

      Thanks for your consideration!

Because i never use my phone to make calls but when i decide to on 3G at 40 min call puts me at 20% battery life and I don't think thats normal.

I could really use the battery case because I made the mistake of showing my 2 year old daughter the my phone can play 'Elmo' episodes and now I can even check the time without her saying Elmo 50 times. Now she always steals my phone while im not looking and tries to watch cartoons. When she can't figure it out she leaves it on and hides it, by the time I find it the battery is usually dead! Not to mention that the back case could also help prevent more peanut butter and jam 'accidents'. But I must say, she's actually getting pretty good at using my phone. (maybe even better than her mother) Did I mention the call to 911? Thats a whole other story!!
