  • iOS 4.3 Beta Reveals Revised, Upgraded Hardware and new MobileMe Feature

As usual, developers have gone digging into the latest beta release, iOS4.3 and have discovered some pretty interesting add-ons and new hardware that should be coming in the next few months.

First, unreleased devices are being referenced in the new firmware, including several new iphones: a possibly revised iPhone 4 (iPhone 3,3, the AT&T iPhone 4 is referenced as iPhone3,1 and the the Verizon iPhone is iPhone 3,2) and a more significant hardware upgrade (iPhone4,1 and 4,2). The firmware also references a new set of iPads (iPad 2,1 through 2,3) which I'm sure comes as a shock to everyone, however the multiple versions referenced could be more proof that the iPad 2 will come to multiple carriers.

Also discovered in the beta firmware is an unreleased MobileMe service, currently called "Find My Friends", which could be a service to rival other popular location-based social networking services such as Loopt or Google Lattitude.

Along with these discoveries, iOS 4.3 provides many new features, including in-app AirPlay, multi-touch gestures for the iPad, and the mobile hotspot feature, first announced on the Verizon iPhone 4.

The iOS 4.3 software update will be available for the iPad, iPhone 4 and 3GS, and the iPod Touch 4th and 3rd Generation, it seems unlikely, with the referencing of the new, upgraded hardware, that any older device will receive the 4.3 upgrade.

I'm looking forward to the iPhone 5. I have the money set aside to buy a 32GB Official Unlock iPhone 5 to continue with my 30 a month bill plan.
My 3GS is still in tip top shape so I should be able to sell it at a good price. It's the older 3GS model that has untethered jailbreak and unlock.

By putting this IOS on my Iphone (I have not of course) is not pirating and only harms me. Get real.

No one should put the beta on their phone since it has to be signed for it to be activated and it will not be signed unless the phone is registered as a Dev with Apple, I know because I did for 3.0

but I have no time for this...........
You are wrong, as for the 4.2.1 Untethered JB you need 4.2b3 IPSW which was only available to developers. If its not an official release and you dont have developer rights to it, its pirating just as @musclenerd said DO NOT PIRATE THE 4.2b3 IPSW. Please know what your talking about before spouting off. Thanks. Anybody can confirm that what i am saying is true, please add your 2 cents. thanks

You probably got a hardware problem. I would replace the charging port.

Apple is really upping the ante with these incremental updates! I think they're taking a cue from android here. Seriously to see features like HDR, FindMyiPhone, Airprint, Airplay, etc. Now we're seeing mobile hotspot, a loopt-like service and gestures for iPad in this new beta! Usually these types of things are saved for major releases so jobs can talk about how magical and revolutionary these features are!

      2. A free turn by turn Google maps app like the Androids have. I love my phone, but when I have a buddy in the car that owns an Android, he/she is the one giving the directions.

It is considered pirating, since you are supposed to "buy it"... I know it is free for developers, but it is not free to be a developer, so by purchasing a developer account, you are purchasing the beta firmwares. to be able to install it without being a developer, you need to pirate it or crack it, which is not legal. Now if we look at the big picture, a bunch of "developers" are pirating, because they sell "dev spots" for 10 bucks or whatever amount, so just the fact that you get money to register someone's device, means you are selling the beta firmware that is released to you as a developer and you are not supposed to sell it, technically, someone that sells the dev spot, is cracking the beta firmware by letting it install on a non developer phone.

supposedly developer accounts are for people that are truly devs and can help with the testing and report to Apple, but a LOT of people buy this developer account, just so they can sell the "Dev Spots" on ebay for 10 bucks. you get to register 100 devices under your dev account, so if you buy the account for 100 bucks and sell the 100 spots for 10 bucks, then you are making 900 dollar profit... THAT IS PIRATING MY FRIEND!

Yes, anybody can be an apple dev, but you have to pay $100 per year to get access to the said FW's and programs.

Thanks man! I'll check that out. Still wish it was a natively supported function though. Then again iTunes is already a bloated POS.

umm i never once said that a developer was somebody who works for apple. All i can say to that statement is wow. You must obviously not have understood what i was saying. I do know what the word DEVELOP means when it comes to software. Just stating a fact earlier. Like somebody else said it costs a 100 bucks to get "legal" access to the firmware i was talking about (betas) nuff said about this back on topic tired of bickering over nothing.

I'm more excited that writers are actually using iPhone 4s in images instead of the old ones than that 4.3 has "find my friends"

Blah blah blah, more crap from Apple, useless firmwares that don't seem to provide any substantial gains, continuing to steal ideas from Cydia Dev's. Hell with the new Tiny Umbrella coming out and the ability to restore without SHSH who the hell even needs new FW.

Actually I did read it, yes. Woo hardware advancements. Woo multi-touch gestures apple stole from activator. Oh and who could forget that useless google latitude and find my friends? Call me when there's a FW worth upgrading to. I'll be on 4.0.1 until then.

I have no problem with the physical product itself. It's a great device, as for the software and the rules that constrain it? Ehh not so much. And I'm just voicing my opinion which I'm entitled to as much as you and if you don't like it, you can kindly gtfo

If you had purchased the apple brand and not a knockoff you wouldnt have that issue. There is a chip inside the apple cables that make it work correctly.

Confusing at least, I do not get your logic, Did you ever think that maybe Apple are in the wrong and not the Dev team?
The federal Judge seemed to think so.

M$ does not force me to pay a fee to be a Developer for them. ( I'll be beta testing Win 8 next, I've Beta Windows XP, Vista and Win7) I was also signed up as a Developer for IOS 3.0 but not afterward no time for this now.

Yes I paid a fee back then.

      My point is:

How do you know the Dev team does not pay a fee?

Unless you know for sure I (And others) would appreciate posters would stop the wild accusations,

whats even more interesting is that ModMyI is on cydia

So this site is a bunch of Pirates? LOL I think not.

Yes I'm tired of the Pirate and stealing talk about something that is and will be released public for free......At least for Iphone.

I won't convince you but please stop calling the dev team pirates they are not ( unless you have proof)
Well put. I like your logic.
