  • AT&T MMS is On - Boom

3.0. No carrier setting edits. Cody gets a text from AT&T saying:
Picture and video messaging (MMS) is now available for iPhone. Txt, pic, or video msgs you send/receive are included in your msging plan and subject to the limits of your plan. To enable MMS, connect iPhone to your computer and click "Check for Updates" in iTunes, then restart your iPhone.
Send and receive are both working well for him (who else out there - who has never done a carrier settings hack and is on AT&T?).

EDIT: A little more info - his Settings > General > About shows carrier as AT&T 5.0, mine is showing AT&T 4.0. What are you guys seeing?

AT&T had said they'd be launching on Friday... and it looks like they are finally sticking to a deadline.

Working for anybody else? My iTunes still only asks me to update to 3.1, with no carrier update available, and doesn't show the Photo icon for MMS...

download the 6.0 ipcc from the first post in this thread, then change the extension to .zip and unzip it. You will have the bundle in the payload folder

Update: Changed the mms proxy to the 66.209 one and i just got my first video clip. However, it appears you can't save video someone has sent...not sure if you can only save vids sent from an iPhone cause this was in .3gp format. I viewed it no problem though...no save option.
3.1 is the only firmware that lets you save video from MMS. So yours is working like it is supposed to. No saving video on 3.0 for us.. :-(

I left it on Cingular settings and it worked fine

OH fyi...tethering does not work for 3.1. It doesnt appear in the network settings at all. Does anyone know if you change the max size of the file, can you increase the quality of the videos sent? They look horrible after being mms'd

3g, 3.1, not jb. Tried 5.5. Stealth's. Hard reset x100. Restored the stupid thing and tried again. What am I missing here? I didn't get the sms until 10 today about the update, but I assume that really has nothing to do with it.
      I'm getting super pissy.

would someone help me with a step-by-step guide to using ATT Stealth 6.0?

I have read every post in this thread and all I've found was one link that explained how to do this with a Mac: iPhone Update - MMS - 9.25.09

      I have a jailbroken iPhone 3G on 3.0 firmware.

I don't get what to do after this:

      - - OSX:
      - - - Open the Terminal Application
      - - - Run this command: defaults write com.apple.iTunes carrier-testing -bool TRUE

      because it says this afterward:

      - - OSX - Hold the alt key while clicking update under your iPhone in iTunes.

      - Navigate to the IPCC file (Windows* might need to change file type to IPCC)

What does it mean by navigate to the IPCC file? I thought we weren't supposed to update the phone if it's been jailbroken because then it would be reset to normal settings.

Hey Stealth, I've been using you're different ipcc files since 3.0 beta 5 with the sim swap, and it has always worked fine as far as sending mms, but I can only receive messages from AT&T customers. I have a few friends with Verizon phones, and I can send them messages but I don't receive any of their mms. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a way I can fix this? I installed your new 6.0 carrier settings, and still the same problem.

I just got off the phone with AT&T technical support. The CSR looked into my settings and said everything was correctly set up. He said their servers are fried because everyone with an iPhone is trying to MMS all at once and that they won't have a solution for a few days . Guess I'll take his word for it and wait for a few days like he said. I did ask for a credit on my bill and he said they would give a credit once they determine how long this will last. Kind of a BLACK EYE for AT&T! I'm new to their service and just love the new 3Gs with 3G speed but AT&T has me a little worried. Oh well, I'll chalk it up to 'growing pains' for now...

BTW, I can receive picture messages but can't send them (I get the red exclamation).

      I'm running 3.1 firmware on AT&T 32GB 3Gs.

The IPCC file is NOT the same as the ISPW (Firmware) file; which you are correct. You do not want to update the firmware file. However, the IPCC file is the network carrier file that you need to allow MMS to work, and is safe to update to 6.0.

I have been able to send messages with Swirly but not receive every message that comes through.

I followed this advice, tried to send through apples IM app and it worked! The only problem was that it took a little bit (2 minutes). Make sure to read the forum post (link on the info screen of the source app) and follow those directions.

If you are scared to do this then i suggest installing Swirly to send MMS. I am currently uninstalling Swirly to see if it works with out it (because you cant use both. I will update soon

I tried it again after uninstalling swirly and voila! It worked. Here is proof

After you install the source and their tweak remember to follow the directions located here:

Although it doesnt last long. I was able to mms this morning for about an hour. ATT says theres nothing they can do. I have a 2g, 3.0, JB, carrier att4.0

Okay, this time I switched my sim to an LG Shine, used the internet, sent a few mms's, logged into my at&t account and where is asks you if this is your device, I made it to represent the phone I put the sim into (LG Shine)saved the info and I've been good for a while now....We'll see. At least its a start and I know it not a "hardware Limitation"

CreoleSugar: I have a 3G running 3.0.1. What you want to do is run the Terminal command. Download the 6.0 file and place on desktop. After that, open iTunes and let your phone be recognized. When it is, and you are on the page of iTunes that says Update and Restore, hold down the option key (I'm on a Mac) and click on Update. You'll get a window. Navigate to the 6.0 file you downloaded from here and select it. It will load on your phone. Eject phone from iTunes and turn off phone (all the way, hold down the top button until the Power button appears, use it. Phone will power down. Start it back up after spinning wheel is gone. When it is on, navigate to Settings>Messages and see if you have the two new boxes, MMS and Subject. Click MMS if it is not already enabled. I un-clicked Subject as I had issues if I didn't enter a subject AND a message. Try to send an MMS (if you have the little camera icon when you open the text app up, happy happy). It may be slow at the last, just let it work, the network is jammed. If you can't do any of the last bit, check in Settings>General>Network>(new pane) Data and set the MMS settings (NOT VPN or Phone or...) as listed in this thread. Mine was preset, and everything works fine. Good luck.

it took a lot of reading but it looks like MMS is working with me, too.
      I got the 3GS With 3.0 JB.
I didn't want to upgrade to 3.1 fearing the losing of the JB.
      I used Stealths carrier 6.0.
      thanx!
