  • Get MMS on your iPhone TODAY

Cult of Mac has a simple straightforward hack to enable MMS messaging on your iPhone 3G or 3GS if you just can't wait... or if, like me, you have fun playing around in your phone's guts a little.

It takes about three minutes, and Leander Kahney warns that some users have said it doesn't work. Your mileage, as always, may vary.

Does anyone still have the factory ATT_US.ipcc file for 3.0.1?

you have to download firefox in order to get the .ipcc file. once you get firefox and the .ipcc file, go to itunes and shift/update to get the carrier update on the phone..reboot and you have mms.

Which iPhone do u have? What firmware and which carrier did you use? When you entered the password did you use all caps?

From my MMS guide : Guide: MMS and Tethering working with AT&T on 3.0 iphone

“iTunes could not update the carrier settings on your iPhone. An unknown error occured (0xE800003D)”

Then SSH to your iPhone and change permissions in the /private/var/mobile/Library/Carrier Bundles/ folder.

      Type this in terminal:

      chmod a+rw -R /private/var/mobile/Library/Carrier Bundles/

      Stupid question...

For the shlubs who want to wait until the 25th for the official activation, is there anything we need to do on our end to turn MMS on, or is it totally on AT&T's end?

There isn't any OS update (beyond 3.1) that we have to do, is there? If not, how will we know it's been activated? As it stands, I've upgraded to 3.1 already, but there's no indication of any MMS "on/off" switch in my settings menus.

      Does anyone know?

My guess is it will be a signed ipcc.

yea there will just be a carrier file update.. thats how u can get it now.. manually update the carrier to the one in the OP... then you'll have the options for MMS

I'm sure AT&T will send a text out telling people to connect to their computers.

Will it be a different carrier file than the one in the OP?

Of course. The one in the OP isn't official and was made by someone else...
