  • Get MMS on your iPhone TODAY

Cult of Mac has a simple straightforward hack to enable MMS messaging on your iPhone 3G or 3GS if you just can't wait... or if, like me, you have fun playing around in your phone's guts a little.

It takes about three minutes, and Leander Kahney warns that some users have said it doesn't work. Your mileage, as always, may vary.

I really, really can't be bothered to read this thread (I'm on T in the UK so not my problem) but for people getting the red exclamation mark, have you done a hard reset (hold home and power 'til the phone reboots)?

      If so, just ignore me.

So it's all about the area. I've been testing my MMS everyday since I updated my carrier settings over a week ago and I live in the Chicago area. I'm currently in Indianapolis for a Metallica concert and my MMS is working. I had no idea until I got an audio file. I just sent a pic to someone and that worked too.

So I tried this couple of days ago and it wasnt working. Just for grins I tried it today and its working! I am not on a family plan and I didnt do anything extra beyond whats described in the article. Is ATT turning on MMS region by region leading up to 25th?

Tethering doesn't work on 3.1 unless it's official.

Anyone hacked the security on this yet? SB?

Not quite sure why that would be the case. In no way am I saying that may not be the reason. But maybe you have something here?

I'm from Indianapolis, have an Indy phone number, but currently located out of Champaign, IL. My girlfriend and her brother are both here in Champaign, and yet, I'm the only one with working MMS.

I did the ipcc update on my 3GS without entering the APN, username, or password for the MMS settings and mine works fine. I tested it out sending/receiving to a few different carriers.

Just an FYI for those who after making all the changes are still getting the exclamation points...your MMS won't work until AT&T flips the switch on your account. I've read where people here in Los Angeles have MMS working yet it doesn't for me and it's because they haven't gotten to my account yet.

      So be patient

so visual voicemail will not work if you do this??

It seems to me that 3.1 doesnt have the option to edit visual voicemail apn settings. This method works fine on my 3Gs on 3.0, and has the visual voicemail field.
When my phone was on 3.1, there was no visual voicemail field to edit, and my voicemail did not work. So if you can edit it to acds.voicemail, it should work.
      If you can't, it wont.

      Fail.

Lol, if you (the OP) use the search function first, you would have had a full page of guides to enable MMS. I don't mean to be harsh, but really?

I wrote a guide myself on the Forum letting people know the reason why it wouldn't work and you get the red exclamation point..

You need to SIM swap with another AT&T phone that has MMS support, make a couple of phone calls to your voicemail or whatever number.. Then login on AT&T website, you'll see the phone you switched with icon on your line..

Click on "Manage Your Features" and switch from the "iPhone Text Messaing" plan to the "Text Messaging" plan.. Same price and all, save your settings and you don't even have to restart your phone.. Worked for 8 phones I did already..
