  • Jailbreaking Apple TV 4.1.1 with Seas0nPass

The developers at FireCore have released Seas0nPass, a tethered jailbreak for the second-generation Apple TV running 4.1.1 (iOS 4.2.1). Like PwnageTool or Sn0wBreeze, Seas0nPass creates a custom IPSW that gets loaded on your device. The tool is extremely simple and easy to use, automating all the steps except actually entering DFU mode (like most JB tools, it will guide you through that as well). It will even download the stock IPSW from the internet for you.

Seas0nPass is free and open source: you can download the source code from Github.

Make sure you have a microUSB cable before beginning.

How to Jailbreak Apple TV with iOS 4.2.1 using SeasonPass:

Step 1: Download Seas0nPass and extract it from the zipfile.

Step 2: If the Apple TV is not already jailbroken, click on 'Create IPSW.' Seas0nPass will download the iOS firmware and create a custom IPSW.

Step 3: When IPSW creation is complete, you will get a screen that says "Waiting for device to enter DFU mode." Connect the microUSB cable to the Mac and to the Apple TV and hold down the 'Menu' and 'Play/Pause' button for 7 seconds to enter DFU mode.

Step 4. iTunes will open automatically and prompt you to restore.

Step 5: Once the restore is done, the Apple TV must be disconnected from your computer in order for the tethered boot process to work correctly. Afterwards, you proceed using the same steps you will use every time you boot the Apple TV.

How to Boot Tethered with Seas0nPass

Step 1: Open Seas0nPass and select the 'Boot Tethered' option.

Step 2: You;ll get a screen that says "Waiting for device to enter DFU mode." Connect the microUSB cable to the Mac and to the Apple TV and hold down the 'Menu' and 'Play/Pause' button for 7 seconds to enter DFU mode.

Step 3: When you get the "Tethered boot complete!" screen, disconnect the microUSB cable and connect the HDMI cable.

    And that's it! Happy hacking...
