  • iTunes 10.1.1 Update: Just Some Fixes

Don't worry, nothing to be concerned about if you have a jailbroken iDevice. Your should be safe to connect and sync if you please, just don't update your firmware by "Accident". There has been no word of any issues blocking DFU mode restores, at this point in time.

Apple has released iTunes 10.1.1, an updated to iTunes 10.1 which was released in mid-November, of which now includes some bug fixes for the NVIDIA GeForce 9400 and 9600 video card on macs, not to mention a fix for those that were having issues syncing music videos.

This release provides a number of important bug fixes, including:

    - Addresses an issue where some music videos may not play on Macs equipped with NVIDIA GeForce 9400 or 9600 graphics.
    - Resolves an issue where iTunes may unexpectedly quit when deleting a playlist that has the iTunes Sidebar showing.
    - Fixes a problem where iTunes may unexpectedly quit when connecting an iPod to a Mac equipped with a PowerPC processor.
    - Addresses an issue where some music videos may not sync to an iPod, iPhone, or iPad.
If this applies to you, then by all means, go and update right away. Play safe.

      From TUAW

Note: A number of commenters have reported that this update doesn't work.

The solution is to download the whole 90.5 MB file from the Apple site -- that should set you up with a working copy of 10.1.1.

Woah! It's not just about syncing, it's about it blocking DFU mode restores as well.

Don't be so quick to tell jailbreakers what it safe.

      Not that often really.
With Microsoft it's almost every Tuesday there's some new fixes and patches.
Also, you don't have to update. You can update once a year if you find them so annoying.

They said there were no reports of blocking DFU restores.

I don't think iTunes is built to run well on Windows XP. It takes like a full minute to start, my first software update I had to try two three times to stop the error messages, the second time I had to try twice, the third time I got errors 1601 or 1602 and can't restore any iDevice on there unless I go through an hour and a half process to fix it. I'm only on 4.1 because my last iPod broke. My PC works fine otherwise (except it's old and slow as hell). I haven't encountered any of these minor bugs they want to concentrate on though.

That's because you're not important to Apple, you see, only people who have new/newish Macs deserve a bug free experience.

It's a magical conspiracy to get you to buy a Mac.

On a serious note: iTunes has gotten a lot slower on my Win7 laptop as well, and they can't blame me because I know my OS is clean.

Will 10.1.1 still work with my jb & unlock on my 3.1.2 3gs
using blackra1n as I usually need to restore every couple of months or so

I've just got myself the iphone 4 and it doesn't work with the older version of itunes and I'm desperate to sync.
My girlfriend will be getting my 3gs and I dont want it messing things up for her.

edit..ive tried on a different pc and I get error 3194
