Mark Papermaster to Start in April…Really!
A while ago we told you about the whole legal battler between IBM and Apple
over Mark Papermaster replacing Tony Fadell.
Papermaster was supposed to start back in October, but IBM (his former employer) filed a lawsuit to stop Papermaster from working with Apple. IBM filed on the grounds that he violated the contract he signed with IBM when he was first hired by going to work for a competitor.
A US District Court Judge put forth an injunction that stopped Papermaster from working with Apple until the legal issues were resolved.
Today, in this press release Apple announces that the legal battle is over;
"Mark Papermaster will be coming to Apple as senior vice president of Devices Hardware Engineering, reporting to Apple CEO Steve Jobs, on April 24. Papermaster, who comes to Apple from IBM, will lead Apple's iPod and iPhone hardware engineering teams."
Papermaster is scheduled to start his first day of work on April 24th, 2009. He will head Apple's iPod and iPhone hardware engineering teams and report directly to Steve Jobs.
