  • Steve Jobs Steps Down

image by xkcd.com EDIT: Comic is merely to soften the harshness of the story - a few folks have been offended, its not our purpose to tick folks off. We wish Steve well and hope for the best for he and his family same as you. The pic stays.

Until June, for now, that is. The mighty Steve has been sick for a while, and notably didn't even appear at this year's Macworld keynote, having Phil Schiller stand in to deliver the lack-luster news for the hungry Apple-enthusiasts attending.

Steve had previously stated he'd be standing fast at the helm during his recovery, but apparently that's no longer doable.

In an email to employees, El Jobs wrote

...during the past week I have learned that my health-related issues are more complex than I originally thought. In order to take myself out of the limelight and focus on my health, and to allow everyone at Apple to focus on delivering extraordinary products, I have decided to take a medical leave of absence until the end of June.
Tim Cook, the company's chief operating officer, will be steering the rudder until Steve is back.

I have asked Tim Cook to be responsible for Apple’s day to day operations, and I know he and the rest of the executive management team will do a great job. As CEO, I plan to remain involved in major strategic decisions while I am out. Our board of directors fully supports this plan.
Get well soon, Steve. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your fam.

Apple will be fine without Steve Jobs. I think it is time for a change anyhow. I think apple has been covertly heading down a wrong path in the past 3-4 years anyhow. With the switch from PPC to Intel, the lock down of the iphone and many other "questionable" business decisions apple has made, I think thinks need to be stirred up. Don't get me wrong, I love Steve jobs and Apple! I have been an Apple fan since i was abut 10 (I am 37 now) so I do wish him the best. But this is not the end of apple. Change is good! Think Different, Remember?

Oh and I thought the Illustration was funny. You people need to laugh at tragedy cus crying about it doesn't make it go away. Plus I rather laugh than cry any day.

Maybe. He is responsible for a large part of what we use today. It's amazing how much he was involved with the Macintosh project early on. I wish him well.

Before I continue, I do wish Steve the best, and hope he gets well soon.

That being said, change is ok. If Apple does fall without Steve, that simply means the necessary measures were not taken to properly replace him in such a time of emergency, which is the sign of a weak company. The country doesn't fall apart when a President dies (we are devastated, but we don't crumble down), and neither should Apple. I don;t know the business structure of Apple, and frankly don't care to go study it, but for a man who everyone seems to think is so genius (speaking of Jobs here), I doubt he is stupid enough to allow the company to go belly up because of his death/leave. This is his baby and, generally speaking, we want our babies to live on and thrive, both figurative and literal, once we pass on.

Will stocks take a hit? Probably initially. Will products stop being "innovative"? I doubt it, unless Steve really sits in his basement all day thinking up new ideas, I doubt anything new is actually his idea, he just ok's it. Sure there will be a slew of people who claim they can't stay with Apple because Steve is gone, Steve is what makes Apple and Apple is not Apple without Steve, yadda, yadda. Personally I would be happy to see people with such mentalities go. Such statements/actions are cult-like in nature and I would like to steer clear of that one...

This may be Steve's way of finally producing a successor. Apple without Steve nearly collapsed before. I can only hope they have the momentum to continue if he is truly dying, which I pray he is not.

Am I the only person on this website who doesn't like jobs? No, a lot of employee's, engineers, and mainly people that sit all day thinking of the new ideas probably dislikes him as well. Jobs is known to micro manage and scrutinize every product by reducing it to the exact "standard". Example; no firewire port on new macbooks, old macbooks has it, new macbookpro also has it.

Will stocks take a hit? yeah but it's been like this ever since apple discontinued the original phone, employees will tell you no contract was ever involved therefor people all around the world wanted an iphone and resellers would buy by the hundreds making apple a lot of revenue.

another reason why stocks fell is..

the old macbooks (white and black) were updated less than a year ago but still all of them came with hardware defects forcing unhappy customers to buy expensive apple care.

The new MB took care of that through the solid structure but it's way too pricey and even students get less of a discount then ever before.

He was warned, as are you.

As far as the "hooker from Jersey".....I know that to be false, for a fact.
