  • Fact or Rumor: New iPhone OS To Be Revealed Next Week

That's the big news in the iPhone world today. Yesterday we reported that the new iPhone OS could be revealed on January 27th. Now it looks as though the big reveal is a done deal as this information is widely believed to be based on fact more than it is a rumor.

Fox's report also claims that Apple will discuss the next iPhone OS update.
The January 27th event at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in San Francisco could very well surpass everyone's expectations. Making up for the "let down" that some Apple fans reported after last September's event, next week's event is poised to present three "potentially spectacular" items listed above.

Naturally, the invitations emblazoned with the words: “Come see our latest creation” have everyone whipping out their highest hopes for the occasion.

Similar sources close to Apple are saying that the folks in Cupertino may ultimately be more excited about the 4th generation iPhone than the tablet - although that is monumentally difficult for anyone outside of the Apple bubble to comprehend. While it is all but certain that next week's event will live up to the hype surrounding a reveal months in the making, the January 27th extravaganza could very well prove a game changer in more ways than the space on this site will presently allow me to chronicle.

The only way a new OS or iPhone will get me all exited is if Apple concentrate on completing the system by enabling all the facilities to make the phone work 100% as a phone and worry about the blasted games later on. For instance we still do not have a fully functional bluetooth system yet. I bought the iPhone because I wanted the best phone for the money. It seems I was wrong as I bought a part finnished phone and a games machine with access to iTunes that contains 95% rubbish.

The admins Here should strongly consider adding a "rumors" section to the forums

This isn't news...nor are 90% of things added here they're runors, and 99% of runors are generally BS

If it had good bug fixes and all other goodies, I would get this firmware...after it is jailbroken.

i really hope some smart person will come up with a jailbreak that is nontethered for those of us running the new bootrom (3GS)....i mean, tethered jailbreak isn't that bad, but still kinda annoying huh? hopefully it'll be possible for 4.0.

Actually, is there any new headway into this issue? i googled but no answer.....

The employees at Apple have to sit back and laugh their asses off at what all of you people are saying when they browse tech forums. I bet you they even have user names memorized for their notorious "from outer space" ridiculous conjecture.

Since we're talking rumors, I found this mock-up of a 4G with some speculations as to features, with percentage of probability with each.
