Lego App Makes Legos Out Of Your Pics. That's It.
Lego, the Danish toy manufacturer that has been making the colorful block construction toy for eighty years, finally released its iPhone app. Rather than an iPhone version of the popular Lego Digital Designer that lets you build (and buy, of course) your own Lego sets, this app does nothing more than "Lego-ize" images on your phone. While it doesn't sound like much, it's actually a slick little app that's surprisingly fun to play with. And you can't beat the price: free
The app opens with a simple and clean Lego-style (of course) interface that presents the two - and only two - options: take a new picture or select one from your camera roll. Once you've selected the source image, there's a single button allowing you to turn the image into a Lego brick mosaic. It'll start by trying to approximate the colors in the image, but if you tap the screen it'll choose a new color scheme based on the particular brick that you tapped. Once you've reordered the bricks to your satisfaction, you tap the info button in the upper right-hand corner to save your image.
LEGO Photo supports both the iPhone and iPod touch, but if you are using an iPod touch you can only import images currently saved on your device.
