Taptu 1.6 Includes OneRiot Real-Time Search
, the mobile search engine, recently released a new version of theiriPhone app
for real-time web search powered by OneRiot
. While Taptu had announced a partnership with OneRiot last month to provide real time search results in their mobile site, the iPhone app adds new functionality and ease of use to the platform.
The 1.6 update of Taptuís iPhone and iPod touch application integrates OneRiot's real-time search technology to allow users to track hot topics as they break. OneRiot indexes web pages that are shared on Twitter and Digg, and uses the number of times a particular URL is shared to figure out its ranking in the search results. The search algorithm uses not only the total number of links to a URL but also how quickly that number has climbed in the past two minutes. Updates are indexed within 35 seconds, bringing up-to-date relevance to a search.
In addition to the OneRiot integration, the new update also adds a number of new touch-enabled sites, allows faster caching of source sites while the phone is connected via WiFi and some tuning of the interface, allowing the most popular search result to be accessed with a single tap. Bugs have reportedly been fixed, including memory leaks, which should allow smoother performance.
Version 1.6 of the Taptu app is available on iTunes App Store
