  • Apple to Sell 10 Million iPhones This Quarter: Study

    A dramatic surge in orders to chipmakers suggests that Apple may ship more than 10 million iPhones per quarter for the first time, according to a organization that follows the Taiwan electronics industry. A study from the Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute in Taipei, quoted by DigiTimes, says that deliveries of chips used in smartphones increased by 31% from spring to summer and asserts that many of them were destined for Apple phones.

    Taiwan's smartphone IC [integrated circuit] shipments reached 116.97 million units in the third quarter of 2009, up 30.9% sequentially, and market value amounted to US$613.7 million, up 32.0% sequentially, according to Taipei-based Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute (MIC). In the third quarter of 2009, sales of the Apple iPhone 3GS far exceeded expectations, and sales are expected to reach 10 million in the fourth quarter of 2009. iPhone chip suppliers have benefited from this development.
    Sales of 10 million would be a staggering increase over the previous quarter's 7.4 million - itself a record - and above almost all analysts' estimates of 8 to 9 million iPhones to be sold in the current quarter, which runs until late December 2009. The increased growth is largely attributed to opening up new carrier distribution deals in major markets like the UK, Canada and France.

      I wish i had invested in Apple 3 yrs ago i'd be a rich man right now. Well maybe not sooo rich but i'd have gained a lot. So many iPhones and then in 6-8 months the new one comes out lol.

      Anyone have any idea how much recycled materials they use in the production of the iPhone? Cause if they used even 10% it would be a massive feather in their cap.

      I am sooo glad at&t would not let me have a new 3GS when they came out. Now my contract is up. There are some nice phones coming soon. I hope Apple brings out a new kick ***** iphone this spring. But, if not, I will checking out the competitions phones.

      So this is kinda off topic but idc. I've been on a Tmobile US plan for about a year now with no data xfer (dont need it when theres wifi all over now-a-days) well I just got data today and am now tethered to my PC surfing teh intrawebz at half the price (and half the speed lol) of dsl prices IM SO HAPPY! cookie4meh
