Shazam (RED) : Discover New Music While Fighting AIDS
Shazam has teamed up with (RED), an organization that helps fight HIV and AIDS in Africa, joining big name brands like Apple, American Express, Dell, Gap, Hallmark & Starbucks. By sponsoring the product as (RED), it allows companies to share their profits by giving back. The company then brands the product with the (RED) logo, name, and color.
Apple has been with the program for quite some time now, as I'm sure you all recall the (RED) iPods. Shazam is the first application in the app store to support the (RED) foundation.
This version will have the same features and price tag as Shazam Encore, except Shazam(RED) Special Edition will of course be themed and branded Red, will let you show off your support with each tagged song, and even show your random information about the cause. Shazam(RED) can be found in the App Store. Just look for the red-colored product icon.
For each purchase of Shazam(RED), twenty percent, or as little under a $1, will be “contributed to the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria,” with (RED) support funds going specifically towards the fight against HIV and AIDS in Africa.
If you read the interview with TMCnet.com, Shazam CEO Andrew Fisher discusses the success of (RED) program, and the potential reach it can have with the huge amount of iPhone users.
Shazam(RED) is available on the App Store now for $4.99. iTunes Store Link
