  • iPhone Uses 50% of All World Mobile Data

AdMob - soon to be purchased by Google - released a report tabulating webpage requests from smartphones worldwide to sites served by its ads. The result? iPhone users were responsible for half of all the traffic on mobile phones in October, up from 43% in September. The proportion in the United States was even larger, where 55% of all requests came from an iPhone.

AdMob serves ads "for over 15,000 mobile Web sites and applications around the world," the company notes. The data resulting from these requests allows them to put together a picture of usage trends for mobile networks, worldwide and by country. The report found that 55% of the ad requests originating in the United States was made from an iPhone, an increase of 7.2% in a single month.

In the same period, Android phones' data use in the US rose to 20%, which means that between the iPhone and Android platforms alone account for three-quarters of the data used by smartphones in the US.

Blackberry dropped from 14% to 12%, while Palm Web OS usage rates plummeted from 10% in September to 5% last month.

      Mobile web sites?
      I never use them.
Admob have lots of adds in iPhone apps and I'm really not sure how representative these stats are.
Having said that, I used to use 7-800Mb/Month on WinMo and the monthe before last used 2.5Gb on my iPhone...

Look at how much Android has. That will only go up and eventually eclipse even the iPhone. Also expect the Windows Mobile share to drop

At&T network can't handle that much data usage. Open the door for Verizon.

Not surprising BB is dropping. Even with their new devices, trying to navigate even mobile sites is a chore with their built in browser.

The web experience is much better on an Android based phone or an iPhone. I would expect WebOS to increase too once the Pre moves on from Sprint to a major network. The Pixi (hate that name) is actually a very nice device. Palm just needs to make one for smartphone users with a better processor but same form factor and I could seriously see myself using it, not on Sprint but one of the big two carriers.

I am very interested to see what happens when Palm starts pushing more devices out to other carriers. I like what they are doing with WebOS.....I still love my iPhone though...

Im a noob to the Iphone but not to smart phones had the motoQ on sprint sucked and way over priced (Easy to hack, about it)switched to verizon and the storm again overpriced network and the try to dampen the unlimted data usage I.e slingmobile and other high data programs ( so they cant handle the traffic either) oh and did I mention more expensive than sprint. Had the Iphone for a half of day and all ready jailbroken and more. I was just kidding myself with the other phones.Plus waited for a price drop and updates and upgrades. Iphone there is no substitute!!! I'll get back about the service since it is only been a day.So Far so Good.
