  • New Macs Have Been Rolling Off Assembly Line For Weeks: Report

    image via Apple

The rumored redesign of the iMac and MacBook is apparently a reality... at least according to a report in AppleInsider. The website's informants assert that the designs were finalized in September and have been coming out of Apple's Taiwan factory for at least two weeks.

The modifications are still shrouded in secrecy, but persistent indications from AppleInsider's informants indicate an industrial design akin to the new 24" LED CInema Display, and the possible inclusion of Blu-Ray technology, something Apple has long avoided for the high licensing costs, as well as unidentified new "semi-professional" audio-video capabilities.

Since the product is apparently ready to ship, the informants indicate that release could be imminent, waiting only for Apple Marketing to kick it off. So, if this report is true, it's probably reasonable to expect an announcement anytime from this afternoon through the middle of next month.

According to my source at apple, the MBP has no changes and the Blueray will be added to the iMac only. We will see what happens....

      RELAX YALL.

It clearly states that it is the Macbook. NOT MACBOOK PRO, that is getting an update.

There is a difference. It has to be the white Macbooks that are getting updated.

For those like me that have the 2.53Ghz will not notice any difference to the 2.8Ghz processor. 270Mhz is just not a large enough increase. No reason to fret for this upgrade. Plus Apple is known for their periodic "silent" upgrades at least once a year.
      Blu-Ray. No "e".

      Just sayin.

Very interesting. I doubt that the MBP line will receive any updates until Arrandale comes along (around February would be my guess for Apple).

Anything new to happen with the Macbook air? I got a mid2009 macbook pro 15" and was thinking about getting a 13" macbook air since I got the funds for it now. I was going to use my mbp for cd use and the mbair to take around school campus.

MBP will be internal changes only... the iMac however will get a face lift.

Please tell me why anyone would buy anything right now from apple when its clear that 32nm i7's are right around the corner. I am pretty positive they are going to upgrade everything when those come out which is supposed to be like december for the mobile processors. Meaning i would think by latest january we will be seeing refreshed processors all around for the macbooks and imacs.

i want to buy a new mbp but this rumor is holding me back, and the bad part is that before i can purchase a new mbp i have to return an hp hdx 18" that i recently purchased and i only have 5 days left to do this. if return my PC back to the manufacturer and buy the mbp 17" for $2400 plus tax then the new mbp comes out for a cheaper price few days after that would be really sad lol
