iTunes 9 hasn't made it into Software Update yet but you can still download it via the Apple site right here. If you are already jailbroken iTunes 9 doesn't appear to interfere with you at all. Not sure if it interferes with the jailbreak process yet however.

Lots of new features. Read here and here for more details on the features. We'll get a full review up ASAP!
    • In-iTunes iPhone and iPod Touch App Management (yes!!!)
    • Improved Syncing Options
    • Genius App Recommendations (could be neat)
    • Genius Mixes
    • Share via Twitter and Facebook (for you social networkers)
    • iTunes LP Enhanced Album Content (snazzy toy)
    • DVD-style Movie Extras (snazzier toy)
    • New, Redesigned Store (sexy looking)

updated to firmware 3.1 and installed iTunes 9, the app rearrange is a nice feature and seems to work fairly good. iTunes performance on Windows 7 doesnt seem to have improved. Looks better tho!

I believe you need OS 3.1 to use the app organizer which means jailbreakers can't make the upgrade unless they want to lose their Cydia apps so they can't check to see if Cydia apps appear on the app organizer. I believe this is called a Catch 22. (or I could be wrong.)

I tried the update from iTunes and it started to download the updates but always has an error while installing the iPhone configuration utility, then when I opened the new iTunes 9.0 program it was actually still the final version of iTunes 8 so I tried to completely uninstall the whole lot and start from scratch.

I tried downloading the iTunes 9.0 update from apple.com/uk and it seemed to install ok but no iTunes program was in my programs list at all.

Ran the Apple software update again and same thing with the iPhone configuration utility but now iTunes 9.0 seems to have installed.

      Very weird.

Ran it, it breaks any jailbreak-related programs that work through USB.

iTunes 9, seems more user friendly! I love the new syncing options for music and apps.

I doubt Cydia apps will show up in the app organizer since they don't show up in Applications when you plug your phone in...

If i upgrade to Itunes 9, will my unlocked iphone 2g with 3.0 software on t-mobile still be able to sync to it without locking it up? Can anyone confirm?

ok so i restored my iphone 3g to 3.0.1 then i re-jailbroke it and everything went perfectly smooth. redsn0w 0.8 doesnt seem to be affected in any way. and itunes 9 is still working fine. everything is a green light so far. we just have to wait for the 3.1 jailbreak now.

you should be just fine upgrading to itunes 9. just dont update your iphone to 3.1

Has anybody taken a look at the iphone configuration utillity it also installed when I updated to itunes 9.
I looked to apple to see what it is and it seems like a tool for network admins to configure iphones.

      This is what Apple says:

      About iPhone Configuration Utility
iPhone Configuration Utility lets you easily create, encrypt and install configuration
profiles, track and install provisioning profiles and authorized applications, and capture
device information including console logs. When you run the iPhone Configuration
Utility installer, the utility is installed in /Applications/Utilities/ on Mac OS X, or in
      Programs\iPhone Configuration Utility\ on Windows.
