  • Apple Accidentally Lists Snow Leopard Box Set. More Pricing.

Earlier today Apple accidentally posted the Snow Leopard box set (product #MC209Z/A) for sale in the Apple Store. Even though the error was quickly caught and the box set was taken off the store some folks quick on the draw caught a screenie (image above).

The Snow Leopard box set is due to include
    • Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard)
    • iLife '09
    • iWork '09
    • $169 for single user license
    • $229 for five license family pack

It appears that the box set will be mandatory for users of OS X 10.4 to upgrade to Snow Leopard. Current OS X 10.5 Leopard users of course will be able to upgrade for the much cheaper $29.

While Snow Leopard was announced to be released in September this early slip of Apple posting it in their store may indicate that Snow Leopard is due to be released as early as August 28th (rumored). That would leave Apple's September event mostly focusing around the new iPod Touch.

It is Not mandatory for them to upgrade...But rather it is mandatory for tiger users to purchase the box set in order to upgrade to snow leopard. Why am I so tempted to spell it Sn0w Le0pard?

Interesting article... looks like those people with older Macs even with 64bit capability may still be limited to 32bit. Sucky.

Yay apple, you keep on charging all them suckers for what can only be considered a service pack.

Seriously, sell a stripped down product and release more features that everyone else has, but call it an upgrade and charge for it.
