  • GeoHot Announces Untethered Jailbreak! Release Date Still Unknown

    I feel like it's groundhog day with this announcement. GeoHot who has been almost silent on the untethered jailbreaking issues, is indeed still in the game and has finally announced an untethered jailbreak for the iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 2G, 3G, and we can only assume the iPad!

    The jailbreak is all software based, and is as simple to use as blackra1n. It is completely untethered, works on all current tethered models(ipt2, 3gs, ipt3), and will probably work on iPad too.
    While the groundhog may have poked his head out, he left no real indication of when the winter season may end. GeoHot has not announced a release date and as per usual, but I can only expect that this release will be made public when the time is appropriate, such as new firmware updates (if they don't break the exploit)

    As soon as this hits the public, we will be sure to let you know!

      If you have a 2G as your Device says then you can JB and unlock.
      When the next FW is released for other devices I doubt an unlock will be far behind.

      IMO, the kid rightfully has an ego, Go read his wikipedia page, he isn't an ordinary guy. It's kinda tiring to hear all the backlash towards him, and I'm sure he likes to poke fun at what seems to be an overblown image of his ego.

      Does anyone know if this jailbreak/unlock for 3GS's running 3.1.3 will be available April 3rd with the release of the Ipad? I have a 3GS Model A1303 that has never been jailbroken or unlocked. Am I able to unlock and jailbreak it now if I downgrade. I have read stories about certain devices/basebands that could be downgraded and jb'n. If not then I would assume I have no choice but to wait on Geohot.... This 16/15 year old kid?

      You cannot downgrade unless you have a previously jailbroken iDevice that has an shsh on file with Cydia. 3.1.3 was only to stop the free world. ITunes stopped signing old FW.

      ***WARNING*** Hmmmm Geo? something weird happens to light on the left side of the desk at 37sec.....It changes shape. It alllllmost can't be noticed....This means someone else was in on this, cutting the video into two sections based on the position of your hands. (They don't move at all) Only the person who's controlling the camera does. Oops! Is this some sort of attempt to divert attention from greenpoison?....I was all for this until I spotted that. You can see that from my last post... I don't miss a beat. Sorry but now im a bit doubtful... Bad,Bad Boy... You almost had me youngsta.
